Really? A review of a beta? Seriously?

ChizeloffdaBlock3723d ago

I changed it to preview, but yes a review of what is to come! :)

TomShoe3723d ago

I just got my code :)

I'm still on the fence, but this will help make my decision.

Got mine this morning.

Its not final build but still plays very well.. Gonna have to really check out all weapons, modes and maps as I've only used a few so far..

Its very promising so far.. Wall running is a new element that really changes how you play

A quick search of "beta review" on N4G will yield the following results:

http://n4g.com/news/search?...

There are literally hundreds - if not thousands - of reviews and assessments of various beta experiences; this is a commonplace tradition.

Odd that it's a review of the beta and that's fine but if it was a negative review not a fanboy one ppl would say it's just a beta so you can't judge it.

PsylentKiller3723d ago

Some generous person gave me a code about 30 minutes ago.
When I wished for a code I think I should have been a bit more specific. I should have wished to be able to play the game when I got the code. These downed servers are killing me. Jk. I'm happy with just having the code because I know the servers will be back up soon.
I'm still in shock that a stranger was kind enough to give me a code out of the goodness of their heart.

Been playing the beta a bit today on PC. Not really impressed at the moment. I feel like the maps are too cluttered/chaotic which is surprising for a 6v6. I think the AI bots are to blame for that. I also think Attrition does not last long enough.

Anyone else feel the same way?

MRMagoo1233723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

I don't think anyone else would admit to it even if they felt the same lol bet you if it was on all platforms more ppl would have negatives to say about the game. The thing is if you are truthful about it , betas are there so ppl can point out the negatives so the company can fix it and make it better but alas the fanboys would rather things aren't fixed than admit something isn't as good as they pretend it is.

n4rc3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

Talking about consoles has the same result..fanboys refuse to acknowledge any imperfection..

But around here.. If your defending your position, its not wise to give the other side ammo..

I'll be honest and say I'm a little let down by it.. But I think I was starting to believe the hype which few can live up to..

Its still fantastic and I can't wait to buy the retail game.. But I think I was hoping for the reinvention of fps gaming or something Lol..

Think there is 16 maps and more modes to play.. Gotta reserve final judgment until I see it all.. But its better then cod already and Id still buy it based on its merits lol

Took the words right out of my mouth playing it on Xbox one and PC ATM. The game looks like a source game..which is fine...it plays a lot like call of duty and I honestly (at his point in time) don't see too much lasting appeal like COD or BF4 may have for some people. It's still in beta though so well see what happens...

Oh and the smart pistol....why does it exist...

The biggest thing to me is how much this plays just like a MOBA. Grunts are minions and if you have a weak player on the team it Will hurt you substantially just like a MOBA. Faster they die the faster enemy gets titans and just dominates your entire team. Even if you manage to have a 5.0kdr.

Still don't know how I feel about that aspect.

Now I can see why so much hate for this game.....it is amazing fun!!!

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad594d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g594d ago (Edited 594d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad875d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal873d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
