Why it make sense for Amazon to buy Double Helix.
Maybe they want a studio to make games exclusive for their Kindle? I doubt they make a console and even if they would there are better devs to buy. They made plenty of not so good games.
Looks like Consoles are the new black. Amazon, Google, Ouya, Steam....Everyone is trying to cash in. Personally I think that the console market is pretty locked up by the big 3 at the moment. I cant see there being a big market to play Cell Phone games on a big screen, but I guess we wont know till they hit the shelves.
it's starting to look like the 2nd generation, there were way too many consoles on the market at the same time. I hope it won't happen again.
Hopefully the Cream will rise, hey? Competition breeds innovation, but too many consoles may water down the market.
As I look at the big picture I think you have to look at what Amazon currently does well and then you look at their back end and you can start to see just what they may be up to. 1) Amazon Prime is slowly turning into a major streaming player in the market. Its quickly risen up and many look at it in a similar light to Netflix now with streaming unlimited play for many titles and then the store front for other videos. 2) Amazon Prime has also quietly built out an excellent gaming store front that offers some really good deals. Its competative for sure. 3) DH isn't necessarily a console starting studio. But they can indeed make a great game to be exclusive for Amazon to offer to subscribers to their Amazon service or device that accesses into the Amazon Prime Services. I am thinking Amazon might be going the way of Chrome Cast or Ouya and offering up some kind of dongle or small device that will stream Amazon Prime and also offer a library of games with it.
Not very often this happens..how do they make a good game and is swept right underneath Microsoft? Something not right...
That is why they did it too keep Microsoft from buying them. Whether people realize it or not, there are power from the outside that try to level the playing field! Anyone can be bias at any given point in time, even those who we don't think have a stake in anything. Someone who is a investor in Sony's stock, could also be invested in Microsoft or, Nintendo stock and vice versa.
Amazon? What do they know. They're only worth like $165 Billion
