Microsoft and Lionhead Working on New “Exciting and Ambitious” Cloud-Based Game, Possibly a MMORPG

A new career opportunity ad by Microsoft Game Studio possibly ousts an "exciting and ambitious new title" based on the cloud.

I've been waiting for MMORPGs to run with Fable's character physical development ideas since the first one came out. Hope it finally happens.

Whether the game has the Fable setting or not isn't so important to me, I'm more interested in the features than the hobbs.

Don't they already have Fable Legends...it's not a MMORPG but it's still online based

I thought Lionhead would of been working on a new IP or Fable 4, both being single player based games since Legends is their online game.

Fable legends has only 4 player coop. This one talks about "highly concurrent and highly available social online game experiences"

It sounds more like a free to play MMO. Microsoft has been all about free to play and monetization lately, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if they spinned out some of Fable Legends' assets to offer a MMO on the side. It's been rumored for a while after all.

I thought you would be able to run into other hero's and villains in the world.

I didn't think it was just 4 hero's, a villain and thats it.

I just assumed thats why it was always online, so you saw other people and their friends out on their adventure.

So I guess it's up to 4 co-op vs possible human villain.

I agree and I'm liking the changes to what Microsoft and its 1st party developers are doing. One thing Microsoft need to change this gen is to get more exclusive ips as Sony and Nintendo have a lot of there own now and I see Microsoft doing the same.

If its F2P I'll give it a try. Would you prefer to pay to see if you like something? Sure it may have microtransactions but you dont have to purchase them

I agree completely. I give every F2p game a chance. Slim pickins on console. That policy wouldn't fly on a pc.

Pay2play does not work well on consoles. Microsoft knows this. Elder Scrolls Online will be a ghost town. It will probably change to F2P after 4-5 months.

Ms seems to be pushing for more 1st and 2nd party games this gen. They will definitly keep securing exclusive content from 3rd party but they seem much more focused on pumping out aa games this time around.

There is a rumor of a game being developed at lionhead using some features of the kate and milo tech and i believe its a brand new ip. Rare also is working on miltiple projects, two are atleast rumored to be adventure games and then 343 has atleast 2 unannounced titles in development besides halo5..not mentioning the other studios and rumored partnerships with devs all over the globe(platinum games too) .That $1bill is being put to good use.

An MMO is cloud-based. The cloud isn't a bad thing. Everybody uses it in some way. Hell, the comments here are stored in the "cloud".

There are real distinctions between dedicated servers and cloud. Important distinctions if you're sitting on the provider side.

Microsoft use the technically accurate distinctions and the hipster terminology interchangeably though, so this could indeed just be dedicated servers :)
