The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that
Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.
Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.
A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.
Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.
I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.
Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.
Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.
I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.
Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

One of my favorite games from PS3 generation. I have the remaster as there was a buy 2 get 1 free deal a while back but the price they are charging for the port is way too high although not surprising at all.
Times are changing, and these games would have never been made in today's climate.
Every single time someone uses this phrase whether it's music, movies, books, comics, video games, etc it's always the same claim.
The ubiquitous "they" won't allow it to be made. And every decade these claims are made the claimant completely ignores all the "offensive" material that is published when the claim is made.
In ten years, you can write a new article about how you can't make games like Helldivers 2, Resident Evil VIII, Mortal Kombat I, Dragon's Dogma 2, Alan Wake 2 etc etc etc any more.
Yeah, people wouldn't be constantly outraged if there weren't games that people found enraging. The whole SBI discourse shit wouldn't be a thing if all games were inoffensive. A game like Starfield can make a guy froth at his mouth, so there will always be room for a list like this.
Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but there are massive caveats.
TV shows like Venture Bros, Ren and Stimpy, and Aqua Team wouldn't/couldn't be made today. Hell, Ren and Stimpy was a *children's* show, same thing with Rocko's Modern Life.
It's not for some arbitrary reason, either. It's branding and IP alignment. Companies are far more risk-averse than they were when I was kid in the 90's. Of course, you have companies coming out of the woodwork to hell spur on similar content, but remember: Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and some incredibly provocative material.
And for movies? it's pretty obvious. American Pie/Wedding Crashers/Eurotrip among many other "raunch coms" have fallen out of style, and are absolutely outside what the modern day film industry is willing to stand by.
Ace Ventura 1 and 2, Dumb and Dumber, Freddy Got Fingered, Rat Race, Harold and Kumar, and Van Wilder follow suit.
Remember: I am not explicitly talking about films put onto streamers. I am talking wide-releases in actual theaters. Same thing goes for games: Carmageddon, Duke Nukem, Manhunt, Six Days In Fallujah (with their original concept), Hatred, and so on and so forth. Of course, I'd be inclined to mention most tactical shooters like Rainbow Six and Joint Ops as well, due to cultural sensitivity regarding *who* you are shooting and why.
And not all of it is bad (obviously). Tastes change, and perspectives change to fit the demographic.
I should add that I'm a lefty, living in L.A. Working in film.
The Boys, Invincible, Jojo Rabbit, Deadpool, Gen V, Last of Us, Banshee... There are plenty of media being made today that people will claim "can't be made today".
Yeah but if you consider manhunt which was basically a snuff film could you seriously make that game with high than PS2 era graphics.

But the storyline of Manhunt was that you were executed. But then lived. And if you didn't do as you were told, you'd die. And the people you killed were not innocents.
It was all filmed by a psychopath.
As we speak GTA VI is being finished up for a release. You get to play a Bonnie and Clyde type of protagonist who run up against the law.
Bodycam looks so real.
People are making those games. Articles like this will always exist no matter how incorrect they are, no matter how many times they blame "them" for whatever it is "they" do to prevent "those" games from being made.
The UK is the biggest junk country pandering to that nonsense as well, with laws against free speech and expression to match. It got so bad even Rowan Atkinson made a video on free speech about it.
Now the UK raises the age rating on harmless films like Mary Poppins, it's just a load of pansy weak ass nonsense.

Super Meat Boy I will agree with, but Little Big Planet and Red Dead!?
Little Big Planet put insane amounts of creativity at your fingertips. It was revolutionary for console gaming to have that much customizability. It was fun, accessible and great for people of all ages.
Red Dead Redemption had a marvelous story, fun gameplay with a large open expanse to explore. It was a really well all around put together game that certainly deserved its praises.
Super Meat Boy was amazing. Frustrating, but very fun at the same time.
The other two I agree with, though. LBP is a great creative design tool, but that doesn't change that the basic controls and physics of the game are poor which is very bad for a platformer. RDR just drags itself out way too much, suffering from the long treks to mission objectives every single time and stiff controls.
The problem with Red Dead is the story for me. Here's how I saw it:
Bad Guys: "We have your family and will hold them hostage until you bring down your old gang."
Marston: "I will rush to save my family... right after I play 1000 hands of poker, 100 games of horse shoes, patrol the ranch of some lady night after night, collect flowers for a lunatic, and help just about every man, woman and child in the territory first before rescuing my family."
Every time the game went back to the main story line it was jarring because the characters were acting as if this mission to take down the gang was urgent and yet I had Marston out bounty hunting for weeks at a time. There was no sense of urgency. It's the problem with stories in an open world game. I had the same problem with AC3 which was trying to tell a narrative but it gets broken when your character can roam the forests for days at a time to hunt.
I fully agree with LBP, I just don't get why this game is such held in high regard.
Note to author:- you should do an article about skyrim, again why skyrim is so revered is just a mystery.
As you can see im obviously a meat boy fan. Although I understand where this guy is coming from, the difficult nature of the game is what it makes it so addictive for me. After finally finishing a level in what looked impossible at first glance it makes you feel awesome when you do it.
It's not for everybody i guess, there are different games which give you different feelings like a good story (metal gear, heavy rain). micro managing on games like the sims which can be comforting to people or grinding on WoW or borderlands which gives people that buzz when getting that ideal equipment. Competitive (cod, halo). Then there's meat boy which gives you accomplishment when achieving something you didnt think were possible.
