Continuing Clementine's Story Could Tarnish The Walking Dead

Hardcore Gamer: The story of Lee and Clementine was so fantastic that I find myself wondering if maybe we should just leave it where ended and continue on with a new cast of characters in Season 2. Part of me loves the notion of seeing an older, more hardened Clementine being forced to survive on her own, but I also fear continuing her story may tarnish where things were left at the end of Season 1.

I am willing to disagree since we would really like to know how Clementine is surviving in the apocalypse without any help, and how would she react to survivors from 400 Days DLC. Playing as an entirely different character on the other hand maybe could tarnish since we don't know what would TellTale do with that new character.

Long story short, TellTale did a good move for making Clementine as the main playable protagonist for Season 2.

If anything will tarnish The Walking Dead it's the tv show. Telltale has been doing an amazing job as of late. I am really looking forward to seeing what Season 2 will be like, if The Wolf Among Us is any indication, Telltale has finally found there niche and perfected their technique.

Yeah, I loved the first episode of The Wolf Among Us, and I can't wait for the other episodes, and Season 2 of The Walking Dead to come. Looks like TellTale is entering to my favorite developers list ;)

Based on the final scenes in season one, I'm pretty sure Telltale intended on creating a sequel. If not at the start of episode 1 then certainly by episode 5. So it's completely different to Heroes. Trust in Telltale.

This article sooo Bull lol i would lvoe to see where Clementine is at how she is doing and will she make it.

These are barley "games" you walk ten feet and watch a cut scene or do a quick time event. Add more gameplay to your "game" and actual puzzles like in Monkey Island.

neocores4251d ago

Thats what makes the game the best at what it does. i dont want to bs like monkey island

While they aren't the most interactive games around, some people enjoy visual novels and enjoy games with a strong narrative. Sure some games can do both, but there is no reason both can't exist.

DDDGirlGamer854250d ago (Edited 4250d ago )

I'm not saying there bad "games" the stories are great, but they're not "GAMES" if you bought a game that was nothing but Press A for a cut scene would you consider it a game? no, you wouldn't, Im saying that these aren't point and click adventures, they aren't very interactive and they should be sold almost more like animated movies. Jeez so many Telltale fan boys on this article. And people hating monkey island? whats wrong with you guys?

admiralvic4250d ago

@ DDD

I hate telltale games, but I respect the fact that some people like these games and they're generally considered games.

Are_The_MaDNess4251d ago

its not about the gameplay, its about the story and drama it brings.

Savantcore4251d ago

I do agree that Season One of The Walking Dead ended on a really high note, but I also think it's a disservice to the writers to suggest that continuing that story will inherently ruin it. I imagine people thought the same about Metal Gear Solid 2,3, and 4, and however many other sequels there are in the world.

Have faith, and if it does turn out shit, pretend it didn't happen. coughstarwarscough.

admiralvic4251d ago

To be fair, the article suggests it COULD happen, which can be said of any game in a series.

Telltale Games and the New Golden Standard for Storytelling

Before the announcement that a heavily narrative focussed Walking Dead video game was announced in 2012, Telltale games was a development studio that not particularly well known. Despite putting out other similar properties with Back to the Future: The Game and Jurassic Park: The Game, the products were largely met with a very mixed and ultimately tepid response from the public. The rampant acclaim and runaway success reached with The Walking Dead launched the developer into one of the most anticipated and favourable studios out there with one revolutionary product.

I think the walking dead story telling is amazing. I really love the games and think that they bring the respect of gaming story telling up in the world of entertainment in general :)
