Consoles have V-synced enabled by default to reduce screen tearing. But by leaving it off you do get more F/S. Guy has dual GTX 780's in SLI configuration.

Lior1030d ago

You sound surprised you can take off v sync, almost every pc game has this option

Sy_Wolf1030d ago

I would rather have a rock solid 60 frames a second then a jittery one with screen tearing.

The_KELRaTH1030d ago

I understand what you mean and I'm surprised so many are disagreeing with you but maybe it would be better worded that you want a framerate synced to the Hz of your TV or monitor.

JKelloggs1030d ago

But then you get mouse input lag, which gives you a delay from your mouse to screen

Sure there are negatives but there are also positives.

I turn v sync on or off depending on how each games performs. Obviously it can offer a decent FPS boost (more so that switching off most other video options) so if I can get away without it, I do, always had it off in BF3 and rarely saw any screen tearing.

MidnytRain1029d ago (Edited 1029d ago )

I always figured it could give you a huge boost. Say you hover around 50 fps. V-sync might drop it to 30. That's a 20 frame difference!

Tibbers1030d ago

I can run BF3 on ultra with 55+fps.
I can run BF4 Beta on low with 25-55fps and 15fps framedrops.

Great, isn't it?

LAWSON721029d ago (Edited 1029d ago )

I easily am getting 60 fps on ultra on my hd7950 and i5 3570k. I am hoping the actual game looks a bit better and has better controller support so when I get knifed and f pops up I don't say "What the fuck is F on my controller?!?". (1080p)

MidnytRain1029d ago

This problem seems self-fulfilling, as you probably wouldn't have gotten knifed had you not been using a controller. X) I kid, I kid...

Mr Tretton1029d ago

vsync off is for blind people. how could one tolerate your screen flickering without horrible vision?

Bladesfist1029d ago

Vsync has nothing to do with flickering, you should only turn it on if you notice tearing which does not happen for everyone.

crookedview1022d ago

You have no idea what you're talking about.
