SCEJA President Talks PlayStation Vita TV, Can use Bluetooth Keyboards, Explains Color and Strategy

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia President Hiroshi Kawano is one of the masterminds behind the Japanese announcement of the PlayStation Vita TV, and he gave some more details about it-

The Vita already had Blue-Tooth.
But since there's no touch screen, they have to enable a keyboard somehow.

The vita had bluetooth, but it did not support the Human Interface Device standard. The PS Vita TV adds that, and that's a very relevant difference, because it can support all kinds of devices. Keyboards, mice, microphones, cameras and a lot of other things that the original Vita cannot.

Yupper's 100% correct, this is indeed important, because with Mouse Support..HID is what Many Tablets and Smartphones have already for the Bluetooth ESP. in Android powered Devices.

So this is really good news, combined with Playstation Move also..which is Bluetooth interesting thing's for this lil Micro Console could be done.

Software update will allow ds4 Sony confirmed tht should go some way to playing games with touch control considering the touch panel on the ds4

Same here. I'm currently saving for a PS4 and will definitely get the VTV when it releases over here, largely because of the huge library of Vita titles I have sitting in my download list from PS+.

Exactly, I put everything free from plus in my download list just in case. Even the Vita downloads even though I don't own one. Now I'm glad I did because when VTV comes out I'm gonna have a nice collection to choose from right out the gate.

For $95 bucks I'll take 6 for every room in the house. Its like having a vita and ps4 in ever room in the house. And yes I will Im getting a day one ed of ps4, ha ha

It's size is that of a smartphone. Why not just carry it to every room in the house >.<

my tv is on my dresser it would be pretty visible and id rather not have a white mismatching color standing out. i would want it to look nice in harmony with my black tv, ps3 and ps4 and sound bar.

Why would it be hidden behind a monitor/tv? so every time i want to switch out a vita game i'd have to take it out and put it back? The thing takes physical games too ya know. Not to mention i can play my vita when i'm out and than plug in my memory card into the ps vitatv once i'm home to continue playing.

This will be just like PS Move, PS Vita itself or PS3 Play TV. Hyped on the internet and a flop in the real world.

You underestimate this little device. I never wanted a Vita because I'm not in to handhelds, but I've missed out on some good titles because of that. Now I'll have the option to play those titles on my tv for less money than it would cost for a Vita. Throw in PS4 remote play and it's a win win for people like me.

PSVita TV, and the PSVita both has more than the Hardware requirements needed to run XBMC, but Sadly, Since XBMC plugin's break allows quite a number of, new ummm. streaming Movies..grin, That are not protecting copy right Holders IP works and since its works is not being protected, we would in all likelyhood never see it on this device.

Which is completely understandable. The OUYA has XBMC and in fact the OUYA could be playstation Mobile certified device, it has the requirements for such certification in spades , So that's one of the great thing's about these Micro Console's they do offer some of the thing's big Consoles do not offer though.

The PSVita TV could be the best Micro Console in the Market to Run XBMC, it has far and away the Most robust hardware to do it. Only thing that comes even close is the Nvidia Shield. but since like i stated certain Plug in's in XBMC are not breaking any copy right infringement, its just the content streaming does. thus no enforcement, and thus you can bet that because Sony is a company that makes content like Games and Movies would rather offer, Hulu, Music unlimited, Netflix etc. over XBMC for this very reason. they could not really do so otherwise because the investors would not stand for it most likely.

An Netflix and other streaming Movie and TV service companies would not be too happy about that. Its just there is pretty much no way for them to add it with out confliction with a part of their business plan.

They could change their business plan to support XBMC but it would really make the invstors and stock holders really unhappy.

Good to see people are finally taking interest in Vita related stuff. About time and well deserved.
