There seems to be no end to Star Citizen‘s crowd funding cavalcade, as the game by Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts and his Cloud Imperium Games has just pushed past the astonishing total of $14,000,000 in crowd funding.
Amazing number's! I will keep my eye on this game.. it does looks interesting and unique.
It's actually a pity that it's unique. It used to be a fairly common genre long ago.
That is so true. I am glad someone had the balls to revive a genre that was pretty much extinct. The reaction has been legendary.
I completely agree. Still, I can't wait for Star Citizen. I also can't wait to play it in the Rift.
That is a lot of money to invest in a game that might not be any good. It looks like it has the potential to be a solid game, but that is a lot of money....Hopefully they spend it efficiently.
wonder what they could do if they had 100 million like most blockbuster games
Really, 100 million like most blockbuster games? Most blockbuster games are NOT 100 million to make. http://digitalbattle.com/20... http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
lol ' too human ' 60m+
And with my life time insurance for my Constellation, and Origin Jumpworks 300i purchases, I HELPED!
Got my Aurora with LTI as well as S42 digital, thinking about adding the Freelancer to the mix.
I went with the Freelancer LTI and a custom skin. Looking forward to a bit of Privateer style trading and exploration :)
I gotta get in on this action. So many choices. Hmmmm.
I love the direction this one is headed in. Finally something that is going to push my computer, not only in hardware, but in defining a genre with a bad ass game.
A fool and his money...
If only half of modern game designers were "fools" like Chris Roberts, the game industry would be better.
Caint wait for a good space game again, loved Wing Commander, Freespace and Colony Wars.
Sony is eyeing the oculus rift ( this game supports it) so maybe after this game sales 1000000000000 copies we might see a ps4 port. That is if it can run it. This game is freaking huge. It might be the crysis of next-gen ( the ps3&360 can't run crysis at max settings) hope it does because my pc can only run source games on medium.
I can with a 100% certainty tell you this games is absolutely not coming to consoles. It is a PC exclusive. "Roberts has been quite vocal about targeting Star Citizen as a PC exclusive, for one simple reason: the PC is the only platform that he considers powerful and versatile enough to give the kind of experience he wants." http://arstechnica.com/gami...
The Rift won't be a good match with consoles. It will really only work with simpler games on consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One are too weak to pump out a solid 60fps with next gen visuals and stereoscopic 3d, which is what you need for VR.
It's going so fast omg. Just 2 days ago was 13 million and now its already past 14. Oh god what is going on panic!
This game looks amazing! I've wanted a game like this since having fun with star fox 64 but always thinking it would be so nice if my ship and the universe looked real. And my pilot wasn't a fox. Do a barrel roll!
14 million that is a home run for the developers i bet they started panicking after it hit this insane funding. this game is absolutely *beautiful* *stunning* and *gorgeous* i love games that push the boundaries of gameplay and what you can do.
im loving this kickstarter thing if dev put our money to good use i wont mind supporting them especially since publishers dont like taking risk and constantly give us rehash
I hope this gets enough funding for them to consider a PS4 version. I'd quite like to play it.
