Terrific, so nearly half of a gaming system's RAM is being used for non-gaming features.

Anyone want to try to convince me that Xbox One is focused on gaming? As a comparison, PS4 uses one - ONE - Gig out of 8 for its OS.

It only took One of the ps4 best looking games 3gigs of ram.

PS4 doesn't have the multi tasking prowess advanced system software, advanced operating system, state of the art camera tech anywhere near as advanced as Xbox One's running all at the same time with cloud based CPU processing for games, it's not surprising LOL

Microsoft Azure’s cloud computing platform in the cloud will need a lot.

Xbox One is just the shell of what Xbox really is. The console is on servers, that is the way you have to look at it, it's the way MSFT looks at it. Once MSFT explains this better people will calm down and or stop trolling.

" The console is on servers"

If true, that's worse, not better. Why would I want the power and soul of my console to be on a server that I don't own? I would prefer to do things the old-fashioned way:
- buy console
- buy game
- insert game
- play game
- continue playing console/game for as long as I own the hardware

Where are you pulling this mystical info from green? MS (for some reason) will not reveal CPU or GPU specs.

Could be as powerful as a wii u for all we know.

not surprising so much is being used for OS. Putting windows on the Xbox one is great for small apps and games but TERRIBLE for major releases that you will see on PS4. As windows eats up RAM.

PSN-JeRzYzFyNeSt1131d ago (Edited 1131d ago )

i think the PS4 should do 1.5 gb ram and 6.5gb ram for games just so the menus are smooth

2 gb ram for OS and 6 gb ram for games isnt bad either i rather have it all be smooth

ltachiUchiha1131d ago

Wow 3 gb is alot but no surprise if the xbox one uses windows and all those apps. SMH

They sacrificed RAM for stuff we didn't really need. I mean I'm not saying everyone has one but most of the stuff XboxOne can do you can do on a Smart TV.

I'm a little scared that developers won't take advantage of the extra 2GB of RAM Sony will have for multiplatform games. I really hope if they can make a game the best they can they will take the jump and forget about Microsoft's stupid policy about not letting games which are better on one console release on theirs. I mean how can that scare so high up developers like Rockstar or Valve....Microsoft needs them more then they need Microsoft. Do you really think Microsoft would turn away GTA6 in the future if they made a better game on the PS4 with the extra RAM they got to play with, hell no because GTA is a massive franchise Microsoft needs on their system.

That's where Sony exclusives will shine. I mean it'll be back to what was going on in this Gen. Can't wait to see what Sony's developers can do though. They are just a perfect set.

I just want a first party studio to make a GTA type game...take advantage of what the console offers and make a MASSIVE open world game with a ton of stuff to do on it. I don't see why a Sony first party studio, a talented one like NaughtyDog, don't try and take on GTA.

Minato-Namikaze1130d ago

Because open world doesn't always mean better. I generally find most open world games boring, I'd rather have very wide linear games
