Battlefield 4: Everything We Know Post-Reveal

GamerZines writes:

Last night we attended DICE's official reveal of the next entry of Battlefield 4 in their home city of Stockholm. The event featured lengthy presentations, interview opportunities and most promisingly a live seventeen minute long gameplay demo.

Now we could hide all this information in a delicately constructed preview offering up opinion the seventeen-minute long live demo we saw of the game in action, but we're guessing our musings aren't the main reason you clicked on this article. Instead we think you probably just want the cold, hard facts about DICE's FPS sequel or more appropriately the ones the developer is ready to reveal and funnily enough that's exactly what we're looking to offer. Take a knee and read carefully, as there's a lot of information to get through.

I know I wont bother with the SP campaign.
Cutscene --> linear scripted gameplay --> cutscene --> linear scripted gameplay etc. etc.

konnerbllb4061d ago

Honestly they shouldn't have done a single player. BF1942 was one of the greatest games ever because they were able to focus on their MP formula and they ended up creating something magical. BF2 didn't need single player either and it did just as well. I feel like the SP is "tacked" on in battlefield games, funny, it's normally the opposite with other games.

Hufandpuf4061d ago

I found the Bad Company SPs entertaining.

guitarded774061d ago

They should offer the SP and MP separately, besides the full package. Most games should. I see a lot of people who don't care for the SP, and if they could just buy the MP for $20 less, they may increase sales overall. I actually like the campaigns... I consider them a warm-up before MP.

hesido4061d ago (Edited 4061d ago )

I haven't played the single player in any Battlefield games, more than 5 minutes. I don't think this will change for BF4. I don't care how big explosions they can show me in the SP. All I care about is the MP. I think they better focus on MP and sell it for 45bucks instead of 60. Anyone who wants the single player can pay, let's say 30 usd, or 20usd if they already own the MP. :=)

Uh oh-Guitarded pretty much said the same :)

Jayjayff4061d ago

I will have to play it just to say I did, but no one goes into Bf for the god damn campaign. Even if Bad company was pretty good. *Bf3's campaign was a mistake*

TheBrownBandito4061d ago (Edited 4061d ago )

"Cutscene --> linear scripted gameplay --> cutscene --> linear scripted gameplay etc. etc."

It's called story telling and it needs to work like that. Some of us enjoy that movie like experience.

BF3's campaign really did feel like it was tacked on, but this looks like a far better effort. I'm really looking forward to it.

hesido4061d ago

I understand your point, that said, this trailer showed too much of that scripted play. In Uncharted for example, you play a good deal before you get into a cut-scene or scripted event. This is like, shoot two guys, go into script, shoot 5 guys, go into script.

Worst input you can give during a scripted scene causes you to die and start over the same scripted scene, the gameplay wants you to behave in a very specific manner. It's not like "This time I will use the left flank and use the cars as cover". And every time you re-play that scripted scene if you continue to not behave in that specific manner, the scene loses more of its excitement.

I dont know what u people expect from a military campaign i think the simplistic campaign of the last battlefield was nice because it was more realistic then other fps campaigns the story is a everyday story that a member of one of our armed services would really carry out and if u play BF for singleplayer your here for the wrong reasons in the first place

spaceg0st4061d ago

if ANYTHING else, co op. Especially when rolling in a squad of at least 4 anyway. Otherwise copy and paste formula. It's old

TheBrownBandito4058d ago

"if u play BF for singleplayer your here for the wrong reasons in the first place"

No, that's why you are here. The developers obviously don't agree. The campaign will be a particularly labour intensive affair for an already well established multiplayer mechanic. Why would they bother and if so, then do it half heartedly?

Simply put, they wouldn't.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot773d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250772d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface771d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop772d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno772d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel773d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps772d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888772d ago (Edited 772d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33772d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888772d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH772d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

5 Games That Started Out As A Buggy Mess

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
