If you look at it purely from a gameplay perspective, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?! is an adequate, albeit cookie-cutter Zelda 2 clone. It'd still be worth playing through even without the Adventure Time motif, but the game's tight controls and fantastic boss fights would be forgettable in any other setting.
But, to look at it that way would be to ignore what makes it truly special: This game is as heartwarming and gut-busting as the show, which is to say that it's a magical journey of friendship and punching jerks for fun. Hey Ice King is a potent distillation of everything that makes the cartoon such an uncommon, endearing powerhouse, and out of all the things I assumed this game would be, that was never, ever one of them.

"If you are anything like me, you have wanted to play a decent Adventure Time game for a very long time. Unfortunately for all of us, we have yet to experience a title that truly encapsulates the franchise. I feel that the time for change has come and that a worthy game should be made and I have just the recipe for it!
Keep in mind, this editorial dives deep into Adventure Time lore, if you are afraid of any spoilers, please click away!"
I havent dived into the show as much, but eventually I'll jump into it a bit more.
The Batman: Arkham series are fantastic licensed games. They just so happens to be joined by some other great ones.
The Hub World writes: Adventure Time: Hey Ice King? Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!! (man, that’s a mouthful) has a similar play style to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. As a matter of fact, it is almost identical. You walk around the hub world (which is the Land of Ooo) in order to enter various towns, forests and other locations, in which you are put into a 2D side scrolling setting where you must travel and defeat enemies. Occasionally, you will also bump into enemies in the hub, which will put you into a small battle against multiple enemies for a reward. Altogether, the gameplay is quite solid and fluid, but it can get quite tedious as the game progresses.
Thats comforting news.. I will pick up my reserve then.. I love Zelda 2 so this will rock to me.. & wayforward are awesome devs
