EGM: "The story takes a step backward, and the new game modes aren’t that impressive. Mostly, it’s just the same ol’ Jigglypuff song and dance from Pokemon Black/White 2."
A swan song is a game that sends off an aging console out to pasture. Not all are great, but these 10 made their console owners proud.
Beautiful article. BOTW was a perfect swan song for the Wii U. Despite its flaws, I loved that damn thing!
I originally tried out Final Fantasy IX cuz I was interested in swan song titles after beating God of War 2
BOTW is my personal fav here. Seriously such a fantastic game. I played it on Switch but form what I've read, the Wii U version is totally fine!
The Last of Us?
The perfect story telling game from a console and company known for their story telling as well as a GOTY record breaking game that was a completely new IP.

Im glad this got a 6.5. More people need to start calling out this series out. Just like most nintendo games, this doesn't even try to do something new to spice up the gameplay or the story.
I strongly disagree i have been playing pokemon since it came out (8 at the time now i'm 23).B/W2 does not feel like B/W 1.5 instead it feels like a whole new game IMO.Especiialy since we cam rebattle the old gym leaders :D.
@Mika
Oh and the gameplay has changed big time since it came out guess you don't know what EV training is ehh??

I don't really think the "oh it's a carbon copy sequel" is a good argument. This is not aiming to be the 6th gen real pokemon sequel that will inevitably hit the 3DS. This game essentially fills the same role as Pokemon Gray would have, only instead of literally being the exact same game they did a sequel that has the region redesigned, added new locations, a new story, etc.
If anything this is the least lazy "3rd version" they have ever put out.
Though, I'm down for any encouragement to Game Freak to shake up the games archaic "start in small town, beat 8 gym leaders, beat elite 4" formula, even if that encouragement does come in the form of these less-than-stellar reviews.
Pokémon is one of those games that simply doesn't need to change it up, it evolves over time, developing new features and gaining more and more depth.
