Siliconera: Sega’s first music game hit was Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, but they can’t rely on the Vocaloid idol forever. In Japan, they have a new arcade game called Maimai.
In Asia, rhythm arcade games dominate all the local arcades. Only 2 or 3 years ago on my last trip to Taipei Taiwan, it was all about dance and music games and now with the introduction of large touch screen displays, tap and touch rhythm games have completely taken over the arcade scene here in Asia. Here are three of the top 3 arcades we saw at the Asian arcade scene which include Jubeat, MaiMai and Groove Coaster.
I was in Japan 3 years a go rhythm games dominated even then been this way for years my favourite game was called Jubeat very simple but very addictive!!!

(Edit) If you have a ipad you can download this game its called Jukebeat in the US its also on SOME android devices. ;)
My friend had Jubeat on his ipad for a few years, game was awesome but i was bad at it lol
It’s almost Christmas, and boy, does the “Sega feat. Hatsune Miku Project” development team have a present for you.
Today the Tokyo-based developer has shared on the Net a very special “Merry Christmas” PV for this year’s Hatsune Miku 5th Anniversary song, 39 (read as “San Kyuu” or “Thank You”).
Sega will be introducing the song in almost all of its Sega feat. Hatsune Miku Project titles.
39 will be featured as a non-playable song in Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F‘s (PS3) Live Studio mode when the game comes out on March 7.
In March, the song will also be added to Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade (late March), Maimai (early March), and Hatsune Miku: Live Stage Producer.
This year, Sega is aiming to bring the crowds back to Japan’s ailing game centers with maimai, an innovative new kind of rhythm game that looks like a cross between Dance Dance Revolution and a Maytag washing machine.
DigInfo, who normally covers things like Japanese robotics and 3D displays, was sufficiently impressed by the game’s integration with Nico Nico Douga and a tracking camera to produce this video report, helpfully subtitled in English.
