StarCraft Still Patched After 10 Years

While we have seen new patches far after game releases, it's still really amazing to see Blizzard dishing out patch updates 10 years after game release! This is true dedication to games, and other game developers should feel inspired by them.

IJATTSBAFTR!

(It's just another thing that sets blizzard apart from the rest)

solar5918d ago

Half Life 1 got a patch a couple months ago and that was released in 98. Blizzard and Valve are the only two developers that stress taking care of their games and customers.....years after titles are released.

Leord5918d ago

Oh, really, I didn't know that Valve was "one of the good guys" as well!. Amazing though as it is that anyone does it.

solar5918d ago

yes, Valve is truley one of the greatest developers ever. they constantly release AAA titles and support them well after release. dont listen to the ps3 fanboys hatred towards Valve on this site. how u can call a developer "lazy and horrible" with their track record is mind boggling.

its pure hatred because they dont have the resourses to learn the ps3 tech. Valve is only a lil over 100 ppl strong and they cant afford the resources to develop ps3 games. and Gabe think its a "disaster" and i have to agree to some extent becuase it is still lagging behind the 360. Valve is a great company.

jidery5918d ago

Criterion has realy started this trens and is showing it with burnout paradise, the only console game i can think of that has free content patches.

Blizzard is an awesome company! I never would've imagined that they'd keep a game up to date after so long! Hats off to Blizzard, they truely deserve it for being so awesome!

Leord5918d ago

I'm really interested to see what they d with SC1 in 5 years from now.

Could they possibly STILL be updating by then? o.O

thetamer5918d ago

I love seeing people continuing to support games long after they've been released. People should take a leaf out of their book.

Dorjan5918d ago

" Fixed a communication bug affecting third party leagues."

They fixed a bug, that only helps 3rd party stuff?? Amazing...

*starts a slow clap*

Leord5918d ago

Yeah, that's forking insane! What other company does that?!

Terrice5918d ago

True, I think its great that they support these third party software with a friendly patch.

Elly5918d ago

So they should. If they want loyal fans then they need to reciprocate.

'StarCraft: Remastered', 'StarCraft II' Now Available on PC Game Pass

This week, Blizzard Entertainment dropped both 'StarCraft: Remastered' and 'StarCraft II Campaign Collection' into PC Game Pass.

meganick17d ago

Hopefully these get released on Switch and Playstation, along with Age of Empires. There’s a severe lack of good RTS games on both those platforms.

waytoobad16d ago

if only they didn't raise the price 500% last year.

Let the COD on GamePass experiment begin!
I would think their quarterly revenue will take a hit compared to a year ago, but will maybe make up for it throughout the year as the monthly GP subs keep coming in

pwnmaster300041d ago

Was up with call of duty man?
I downloaded cod on gamepass and for some reason I cannot access the game.

darthv7241d ago

just curious what version? There are some that you can pre-load, but they wont work until their release date later this month.

pwnmaster300041d ago

I have to redownload it again for the 3rd time to check.
I ended up just deleting it to make room for other games after the second time.

It was on Xbox game pass, I didn’t know there was other versions. I just downloaded everything, but sadly I couldn’t even access the game. Maybe 3rd time the charm. I’ll download it again.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH41d ago

It’s not out yet man unless you’re talking about MW3.

pwnmaster300041d ago

I’m talking about mw3. For some reason I could not get it to work.

just_looken41d ago

On xbox there is the last gen/current gen versions pc though you could also get a xbox version.

When that new forza first came out for one day they had the xbox version on the pc store i was like ? what it was odd.

On xbox you can easily download the one version of a game instead of the series version so you run into issues on your series console.

pwnmaster300040d ago

Because a game won’t run after I download it??
Man your kids must hate your @ss if that’s how you think.

It's going to be very interesting to follow up on how the new entry of CoD will perform at the box office, player numbers and distribution of Xbox, PC and PS versions this year.

DivineHand12541d ago

I got excited thinking they ported StarCraft to consoles but it's just the PC version. Also, I thought Starcraft 2 was already free to play.

TheColbertinator41d ago

I'm certain it is going to be the Campaign Collection version.

It Seems Pretty Clear Why StarCraft 3 is Not a Thing Yet

Even though fans have been clamoring for a StarCraft 3 for years now, it seems like Blizzard really has no reason to spend time making one.

They sort of ran the story as far as it could go.

Also, it seems like blizzard is more busy with mediocrity at this point in time.

Jingsing374d ago

The problem with Blizzard is they have franchises that don't need sequels. People are happy playing the games that they previously made. What they need is new games, none of this business of trying to transport the old audience into a new version of an old game which only ends up nickle and dime'ing users.
