Sony said U.S. holiday sales better than expected

Sony said on Monday U.S. sales of electronics have been better than expected so far this holiday shopping season, fueled by demand for flat panel televisions and digital cameras.

Stan Glasgow, president and chief operation officer of Sony Electronics, the Japanese company's $11 billion electronics arm, said Sony had stayed away from the deep discounts that spurred thousands to crowd stores on "Black Friday," the day after the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday.

"We are not a promotional company -- Sony is a premium brand and we don't become the loss leaders in the industry," said Glasgow on the sidelines of a media briefing in New York. "We generally don't expect to have a very good Thanksgiving or just-after Thanksgiving. It's been better than we expected and projected."

At least as it relates to the Playstation 3. Given that the vague headline was attributed to the PS3 section rather than industry news, it should be made clear that this has NOTHING to do with PS3 sales.

" fueled by demand for flat panel televisions and digital cameras."

Also, it point out how little respect the company has for consumer's money.

True enough, yet if the article had said Sony bummed out during the same period instead, how many 360 fangirls would of posted the news article? Answers on a postcard.

He states in the article that, given their lack of promotions, Sony DOES NOT expect to do well over the holiday.

Really high bar they set in order to have "better than expected" sales.

your PS3 hatred is Epic. I know where you're going w/ that 'ol Shi# and it's like this from the Cnet jive your smackin' :
" These types of stories from c|net news should not really surprise you anymore. They're amusing to read, because you have to wonder just how some of these "journalists" ever managed to get a job, but trying to point these things out to them is a waste of time."
-- THis only explains how Everyone has their pov even major outfits like C|net. Nevermind its a postback to the editor, bit it had to be done. Next time just come out and yell staight^ hatespeak for crying out loud! The more time goes on the more SNE haters look like haters of united gaming through and through, period. What's the problem? Really!? I mean, if you're going to go all out and do it Right, Last I checked 52" Bravia XBR2's were still going for a cool $5,500 to $6,000 at my local ____ if not more, is that a sale? So if they're still making an increase in PS2 sales and PSP sales stayed steady.....and If the LCD's were selling briskly as well Great, right -- that's just icin' on the cake! Let's make money! Right!? No that's bad news somehow in your world. I don't get it.

Ok back to Mobile Suit Gundam CF. What? Has anyone played it? If you have tell me why you hate it or love it. I don't think it's really as bad as all the critics say. Really, I actually find it pretty fun. I actually dogged it pretty bad at first, but after conentrating more and playing better, I find it quite challenging! But anyway lemme know those of you that have played.

Former Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider pours scorn on EA's AI dreams.

"They want you to believe the devs under them are super stoked to work generative AI into their processes," continued Gaider, "but I assure you what they took as excitement was really a veiled wail of despair not unlike the time that team was informed of their new 'really cool' live service mandate.".

I said this yesterday. AI isn't what we want when it comes to crafting artistry. Alas, these soulless corporate morons don't care about their work, only about cutting corners as much as possible.
