GameInformer: Today the news broke that Naughty Dog's acclaimed writer and creative director Amy Hennig has left the company. While we don't know what her next project will be, it seems like an appropriate time to look back at the accomplishments of one of gaming's most respected developers.
Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.
What is a list? A miserable little pile of scribbles.
A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.
No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.
I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.
Check out our review of the dark fantasy classic, Soul Reaver!
Bring the series back Crystal Dynamics. Didn't realize Amy Henig worked on tihs one thats dope
I’ve been wanting to replay this for over a year. It’s been on “Coming Soon” status on GOG forever. Have no idea what they’re waiting for.
Crystal Dynamics' interest in Legacy of Kain and the new secret playtest rekindle hopes for the epic vampire journey's much-needed revival.
Yeah. It would be nice.
But kind of hard to do when they are tasked in helping TRILLION dollar companies finish making their games. Just blows your mind right? Sucks the life right out of you like a vampire.
They need to do it quick the voice talent isn't getting any younger and we need a wrap up of the story of Kain and Raziel.
Man I can only imagine what a modern take of Nosgoth would look like past and present. Have Blood Omen with D4 style top down graphics and Soul Reaver taking advantage of SSD and physical/spectral plain shifting with modern graphics and updated combat ,,,, drool :p Honestly they could condense soul reaver 1,2& defiance in to 1 game if they ever do a remake , make it a huge epic arpg
What ever the circumstances it's a huge loss for ND and Sony! She easily ranks as one of, if not the, best creative directors and writers in the business! She honestly makes most game writers look like amateurs in comparison!
None of us can know what really happened, but u'd think if Sony was smart and really knew what they had, they'd be working their hardest to keep someone of her talent within the organization, even if it meant a move to a different studio! She's just too good to let go!
At this point; some smart developer/publisher will snatch her up, let her build her own team, and give her creative freedom to make what ever her ridiculously talented mind can come up with!
I look forward to playing what ever she ends up involved in next :-)
If you watch the "behind the scenes" video of Uncharted she talks a bit about the research she does for the settings and story. She left no stone un-turned. A real pity about her leaving ND but hopefully it was mutual.
Very sad to see Amy leave Naughty Dog, I strongly believe they lost one of the best writers in the gaming industry.
I'm confident ND has a great talent behind them and the next chapter in Uncharted series will be a successful entree.
Best of luck to Amy, any developer will more than benefit from her creativity and writing experience.
Can't wait to see what she does next.
When I first heard of Amy Hennig's departure, I kicked my dog, slapped my woman, and punched myself in the ol' toolbag. Then I got arrested. Thanks alot, Naughty Dog.
