Check Out the Interface of a PlayStation 4 DevKit Caught On Video

Recently you’ve seen quite a few shots of the PS4′s interface, but what about the interface of those sleek DevKits that you see at industry events and you’d love to bring home, but unfortunately you can’t?

i don't know about you guys but i think that confirms that the PS4 UI will still have dynamic themes yessssssssss and not to mention how smooth he was jumping through the menus overall i like what i'm seeing.

talk about an overhaul. What gets me excited for the ps4 is that you can tell Sony learned a lot from this current Gen. The UI looks amazing. Can't wait come Nov. 15.

Like the speed increase. Like the simplicity of navigation. I wonder what a "Name Request" is. I also like where they put the "Downloads" button now so its right there on the main panel. Its not flashy but its fast and smooth. Hopefully this means that Shu's demo of instantaneous match join works just like he showed.

I just hope they take the same approach ith the PS-Store. The UI looks really slick, I can't wait to see the dynamic theme of games like inFamous or KillZone.

you could edit your username on ps3. it's not your gamertag/id it's what you see on the console to login

Im pretty sure its just your loaal profile name. Just like how you can edit your profile name on Ps3.

It's probably the profile on the console and not your PSN ID. Like on the PS3.

Or how about a Dynamic Drive Club theme with an awesome car in the middle and it progresses through a day and night cycle. That would be an awesome dynamic theme.

1GB GDDR for the OS is pretty damn smooth and slick. Sony's are not playing with the UI. I'm so glad they did this. Greatness awaits.

I thought it was true, but not to the extent of 2.5. What I think this is, is Sony have insured themselves some wiggle room this time, so they are not left with another PS3 situation of not having enough RAM to perform some memory-intensive tasks, or add features like cross-game chat down the line.

It's going to be more than 1GB, but about an extra 1GB of RAM reserved for future updates. Nothing concrete has been confirmed though.

Looks really smooth and definitely a possibility for themes return, which is a definite plus for PlayStation. But with that said, how much resource overhead does the PS4 actually have? As a person who plans on being a PC/PS4 gamer this gen, I'm generally concerned with how much of the PS4s memory is specifically dedicated to games and how much is available for them in general(i.e how much memory is the OS taking up). I know they clarified that there is flexible memory within the system, but how much is dedicated and to what purpose exactly. Console used to have a massive advantage over PCs when it came to extremely overhead(see PS2) but with the current gen that got advantage got significantly reduced and it looks as though the trend is continuing into the next-generation consoles. With most major things out of the way, shouldn't we now be focusing on a topic like this, because this directly pertains to just how future proof the console really is.

I'm so happy they kept the XMB, but in a more discreet form. Sly you, Sony.

Animations are slick, and customisation means a lot to me, so I'm glad their not stepping back from that with this interface. I think the PS4 OS/Network is going to surprise people more than these initial leaks suggest.
