"Whether most of us (myself included) want to admit it or not, Nintendo has been flailing on the scene as of late. The lack of compelling Wii U software have gradually influenced the deflation of units sold throughout 2013, and with only the 3DS to shoulder the weight, it’s been a frustrating waiting game for those who have endorsed in the promise of the Big N into the next generation. Nintendo hasn’t been completely deaf to their situation though, and during a press release yesterday, made several announcements towards release dates, price drops, and their newest revision of the 3DS for the budget-minded consumer, or parent…and one has to ask if Nintendo has thought this all the way through?
The way I see it, it seems like it’s just more pandering in disguise, and pandering is one of the biggest factors that lead them down to this path to begin with."
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
Hanzla from eXputer inquires: "If Xbox can care about preserving its games and legacy, what exactly is wrong with Nintendo, trying to kill game preservation single-handedly?"
Ahh yes the good old game preservation of saving all your games to a removable hhd on the Xbox 360, taking it round your mates house, setting up multiple tvs to
Be met with “save data corrupted, please re download”
Or how about removing 360 games
From the store
, download them now or else, and, better hope to god that save data doesn’t corrupt, or it’s lost for ever
Nice one ☝️
This is just a scammy PR move to distract from the fact they are going digital only and trying to push streaming and subscriptions only.
No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft.
Without discs there is no preservation, preservation can't be done by the rights holders it can only be done by the consumers, anything else is a lie.
Nobody wants this. Sales or the lack of it in the case of XBOX is very telling. I wonder how the adorably all digital series X will fare. Adorably dismal perhaps?
Only time will tell, but for from someone like me suspecting that Xbox is trying to gracefully exit the console market, that "forward compatibility" team is trying to get Xbox games playing on Windows PCs. I mean, it's nice that they're not planning on exiting with a "enjoy your games while the hardware still works" message, so that's nice. They still have a brand to protect via Microsoft so probably feel obligated to have a better exit strategy.
Danish from eXputer: "Nintendo has historically gone against player-made content and emulation of its games. This has done much to harm the company's image."
They need to stop announcing these mods and fan remakes until they're finished. Finish it, upload it, and then if Nintendo dmca's it tough shit. Once it's online, people can share it around, even if the original download gets taken down.
This is all coming from the mouth of short-sighted fandom and grifting madness.
No.... it wont. There is a clear defined reason why they don't. This is nothing new. Make your own shi7 from your own original ideas especially if you are trying to capitalize of it it. Duh.
Yeah, hire people that have zero respect or understanding for an established process. Wow. Yep. Totally makes sense.
poor butthurt sonydrones.
Nintendo will always be your daddy (;
Wow, the 3DS is the best selling handheld bar none, Sony has nothing on Nintendo in the handheld market. If Nintendo knows how to do anything right, it's working with handhelds. The 2DS is a great idea as it allows more people to jump into the handheld who maybe either thought the 3DS price was too steep or didn't believe in the 3D functionality.
As for the Wii U, the author forgot to mention Sonic Lost Worlds which is shaping up to be the best Sonic game in a long time. He mentions Donkey Kong being too "faithful" of a sequel and uses that in a bad sense. If the previous game was fantastic, then build on that, don't change it. Mario 3D World will be a huge stepping stone in the Wii U sales department, watch how well this game will sell in Japan for example. Then he brings up Mario Kart and tries to put it down. Does the author realize that the previous iteration sold over 30 million copies??
In the end I put this article somewhere between complete BS and head scratching. The author doesn't do a good enough job proving their case, all they point out is a few flawed points and assumes they are getting their message across.
If anything, this Fall/Holiday and 2014 is what will ultimately save the Wii U and prevent it from being a huge disaster. And the 3DS will be fine, it's been rock solid to this point, with tons of support from devs, something the Vita has sorely lacked.
Mario 3D world
Donkeykong tropical freeze
Windwaker HD
WiiU party
Wii fit U
COD ghosts
Watchdogs
Batman origins
Destiny ? most prob
Plus a good few more unannounced 3rd party games and quite a few indie games, yeah wiiu looks boring....?????? GET A GRIP U DRONES...THIS LINEUP IS MORE DIVERSE THAN XBOX1 OR PS4.
is it my or are these people getting more desperate and desperate by the minute. You may not like the Wii U lineup which is completely fine but the fact is that these game will sell millions and move consoles. If you are going to do a doom article at least put a convincing article
De derp derp Nintendo doom de derp de derp de do.
