DITTO. I'm getting a PS4, but my PS3 is still in tip top shape, and I'll be playing GTA V, Beyond Two Souls, Dark Souls 2 etc etc well into the PS4 release.

morganfell3912d ago

PS4s (2) all the way while jamming on my PS3s and Vita.

BattleAxe3912d ago

I'm sticking with my PS3, and will carry on the next generation while using my PC. This way I'll be playing most of the big games coming out like:

- Titanfall (PC)
- GTA5 (PS3)
- Watchdogs (PC)
- Destiny (PS3)
- The Division (PC)
- Splinter Cell: Blacklist (PC)
- CoD: Ghosts (PC)
- BF4 (PC)
- Beyond Two Souls (PS3)
- Battlefield 4 (PC)
- Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag (PC)
- Rainbow Six: Patriots (PC)
- Batman Arkham Origins (PC)
- Agent (PS3????)

pixelsword3911d ago (Edited 3911d ago )

Yeah, to be honest, I'm thinking pretty hard about keeping my PS3/360 and upgrading my PC for the moment. My older brother will probably get the WiiU so I'm good when I visit him.

I don't see any day one wows on either console for me at this point, Titanfall looks great, but those mechs remind me too much of the grizzlies in Starhawk and Shadowfall looks beyond great, but they could have went a much better way than what is currently going on in the Killzone universe in Shadow Fall (Shadow fall spoiler after this point, plus I know that TitanFall is on PC as well.)

@ BattleAxe

The Division is only coming out for PS4 and Xbox One

BattleAxe3911d ago

^^^

My mistake, you are correct. I have a feeling it will come to PC at some point though, since it wouldn't take too much effort to port this game, but who knows...

miyamoto3911d ago

"So this year I'm voting for the old guard with my wallet. I'm getting that second PS3 and the months of guaranteed delight it comes bundled with."

I am also getting a 2nd PS3 for my brother as a birthday gift.

But PS4 will be day one for me because I have so much faith on it.

I know it when I see it.

starchild3911d ago

The Division is almost certainly coming to PC. A reportedly reliable source that leaked the existence of The Crew well in advance of its announcement also claims that The Division will be coming to PC.
http://www.gamespot.com/new...

In any case, I have almost no doubt that it will come to the PC.

gaffyh3911d ago

Haha. Great picture. I'm one of the lucky ones.

I still see myself playing PS3 more though. Not at first of course, but I have far more games to get through on that than I plan on buying on PS4 in the first couple of months.

pr0t0typeknuckles3912d ago

bro come on have some common sense the ps4 is inferior to the ultimate console, thats right im talking about the ouya, come on bro think about it games you can buy on your phone, but are now on your television, those exclusive games like the amazing frog, come on bro think about it.

kneon3912d ago

Well the Ouya is outselling certain next gen consoles in some regions.

I still have so many games on my backlog to play, so my PS3 isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If anyone missed the boat on PS3 or 360 or Wii, now would be the time to pick them up. Huge back catalog of great games on all three.

I typically only buy three or four brand-new games at full price per year. All my other purchases are usually playing catch-up with all the stuff I missed. PS4 will be my first at-launch console since the SEGA Saturn. Ooof, I feel old.

GuyThatPlaysGames3911d ago

PS4! Already paid off. ...and now I play the waiting game.

memots3911d ago

got 200$ down on mine so just before Xmas i won't feel too much of a hit to my wallet.

Anon19743911d ago

I'm on the fence with getting a PS4 right away. It launches close to Christmas and it's hard to justify spending $400+ on myself while there's other people to buy gifts for.

That being said, I finally traded in my old launch 360 so I've got $150 of store credit from it and accessories that I don't have earmarked for anything. I figured might as well trade it in now while I can still get something for it because I imagine once the new consoles are out they won't be worth anything for trade. I hadn't touched it for a couple of years and there's certainly nothing on the horizon that seemed to warrant holding onto it for me. Maybe I'll throw that towards a PS4 right after Christmas is done.

Sci0n3911d ago (Edited 3911d ago )

woooo I almost missed my PS4 preorder. I went to gamestop as they was closing the bars on the door last night and was there last customer. The clerk was like you're lucky because after tonight we can't take anymore preorders, it was a close call but I got my launch PS4 console solidified.

bligmerk3911d ago

You do know there is a difference in the preorders? Launch Day preorders were sold out within a few days. The preorders since then are "launch window" preorders, which can extend into January 2014, worst case. There are going to be shortages.

Sci0n3911d ago

@Bligmerk you are wrong I spoke to the manager as I was making my Preorder purchase and he said the stores preorders they take have been monitored and based off how much stock they will have available and they guaranteed a day one console. Sony allowed gamestop and other retailers to open the flood gates on taking more preorders months ago because they increased the launch stock. Now as far as gamestop goes they are getting a little dry with the available launch Preorder stock they will have available. The manager confirmed this is for day one launch and anything after that day would require a waiting list nor could they guarantee a launch day console unless Sony increases the stock and gives them the ok to open more preorders.

It's a shame how Driveclub is being dismissed so easily. I think once the game is actually shown off people will change their minds on it.

I completely get where the author is coming from but I am so tired of this generation. The slow in-game XMB and the sub-1080p resolutions are hard to ignore for me. I'd rather play multiplats on PS4 in full 1080p at a smooth frame-rate.

If I was a GT fan I'd probably be skipping PS4 too, but I'm not.

mattdillahunty3912d ago (Edited 3912d ago )

considering the amount of solid racing games on the market that run at 60fps, i don't see why people should have to settle for one that runs at 30fps. if they can get it to 60fps, though, that'll certain help its cause.

GraveLord3911d ago

Come one man. Yes, FPS IS important but to pass on game just because of that isn't fair to the developers or yourself.

The devs have said that its possible they'll implement FPS and with the recent delay from launc title to "launch window" you may get your wish. Just don't hold your breath.

Hicken3911d ago

Considering fps isn't the end all, be all when it comes to a great racing game, I don't see why people keep bringing it up as the only thing that counts.

wishingW3L3911d ago

if they can't even reach 60 frames on a next-gen racing game then it would only be logical to be extremely skeptical about its quality. Especially when we have 1080p/60fps GT6 on PS3 and this point is mentioned by the author of this article too.

_FantasmA_3911d ago

I think Driveclub looks good let the hater hate, the rest of us are going to play.

Freedomland3912d ago

I still have original playstation 1, 2 and 3 and they are in excellent condition although i played hell out of them.
Now a days i don't have much time to play games, still have not played TLOU.
Looking forward to the Ps4 for another run of great gaming experience.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies21h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken16h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 8h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 8h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt19h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken16h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 13h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 13h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 12h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies1d 2h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
