The Last Months Of LucasArts (And A Glimpse Of Battlefront III)

In November, just after purchasing LucasFilm, Disney CEO Bob Iger held a company-wide meeting. During the meeting, according to a source in attendance, a few people asked what was going on. What was going to happen to them? What was the future of LucasArts, the LucasFilm subsidiary and 30-year-old video game studio responsible for a number of beloved games?

Man this is so sad to see leaked footage from the THIRD version of a SWBF sequal (FreeRadical, Slant6, now Lucasarts) that has been cancelled. This game has seriously been my most wanted game since SWBF2 came out 7 1/2 years ago. At this point im not even expecting the game to ever be released anymore...

GeddyThePolack4033d ago

Thank god the Slant6 version never came out. They couldn't make a good game if their lives depended on it.

It's not actually BF3. It's a project called Version 2. It was a small project according to the article, likely a downloadable game. Though they said they were considering turning it into BF3. Either way, the game looked awesome. I would gladly have paid for that.

That's what I can't understand about LucasArts. They kept releasing crap games, and all the good ones would get cancelled, or put on hold.

Me too. I loved flying a ship from one ship to another and fighting my way to the control room so i could cover it in charges.

With a rap that like, no game company is going to take it for fear of being shut down.

eh…Gilbert, Purcell Schaffer were the trail blazers in that crew. David, while he did do some stuff once, like a real long ass time ago is more like b-list personality that specializes in reminiscing and signing ops at a convention.

Game companies are not mature enough to handle this concept without turning it into a casino.

shadowknight203133d ago

The remakes of battlefront should have been more simular to the originals. CoD/battlefield reskinned as Star Wars was not the anwser.

Sonic1881511d ago

Still in the early stages. We won't get a reveal until two more years probably 😂

rlow1511d ago

I wish they would make another Riddick, Butchers Bay was the best.

hotnickles511d ago

You know what games I want way more than Indiana Jones? The darkness and Riddick.

Snookies12511d ago (Edited 511d ago )

Haha, completely agree... But, the fact that he is involved in this is a definitely a positive sign! Could actually be a good game!

hotnickles510d ago

You might be right. Indiana Jones will never do Jackie or Riddick stuff though. The darkness was brutal on the eyes and ears lol.

Leeroyw511d ago

The Darkness was an underrated gem. Fantastic lore and Mike patton from Faith No More voicing the darkness is up there with the great video game voice overs imo.
