Ten video game heroes that time (nearly) forgot

While some game heroes outstay their welcome, others leave the party early. Some of these went into early retirement because their chosen genre had fallen out of favor, others because their game studios decided to focus their efforts elsewhere, and others still for reasons unknown.

Part of me wants a new Conker, part of me is unsure they'd be able to do it well. Conflicted.

Yeah.Sad to see what Rare has become. How did they end up like this?

smh

Actually, it looks like Rare has two game characters that made the list. Those guys have gotta get on top of this.

"Yeah.Sad to see what Rare has become. How did they end up like this?"

Easy, they changed their Identity. They even changed their logo recently, as I recalled. They lost a part of them and I don't think they can ever recover from it. It is a sad state to see. But ThatXboxGuy, you should already know the feelings of how hard it is, don't you? I heard you recently went through a similar transformation.

smh

i hear yuh, as soon as rare left nintendo, Rare turned into poop . . ha haa . Conker . . another reason why the N64 is STILL the best gaming machine ever . . fact

@bullymangLer

Totally agree. Although today I am more of a PS3/360 gamer, I always say the N64 had the best good game to bad game ratio.

RARE made Conker's BFD (my favourite game, MP was awesome as well), as well as Banjo Kazooie and Tooie. Oh, plus Goldeneye and Donkey Kong. Wow those guys were invincible. Every game they made was basically a masterpiece. How could a studio make that many amazing games?

Still, I hate it when someone brings up Rare nowadays, it pisses me off to think what they have become. I like Banjo Nuts N Bolts, but c'mon, where are my 10 years worth of modern masterpieces they should have made?

Don't hate me for saying this, but a lot of people think MS just bought RARE so that Nintendo didn't have them. Basically, they bought out their competition, with no real plans to use them to their full potential, and I have no choice but to agree. Where the heck are the games?

Conker was amazing... It was perfect for its time in gaming. Even if they did a sequel I highly doubt they could retain that same feel for both gameplay and comedy. You just don't see games like that anymore... To be fair though, Conker was one of a kind.

I 'll never forget Conker.. it's my best game after all :D I still wish for a sequel

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
