Thank you sony for telling me the specs so I can build my PS4 and play your wonderful games through all of next gen now I will sit and wait for the Xbox specs and build my xbox 720.

watching casuals talk about tech specs is cringe inducing, but lets play along..

so far the estimate is about 700$ for the cost of the PS4 PC equivalent. so when the console lower model is priced 450$ then we know its a good deal.

but anyone thinking about a PC needs at least i7+GTX690/Radeon HD 7990 or not bother

What the heck are you talking about? You cant build a ps4 that will play ps4 games. U can build a pc with similar specs but it wont play ps4 games. Even if they do get pirated, u cant play them anytime soon. Second, u r gonna pay an xtra $2-300 and do it yourself. Why? Third, this person neglects to talk about the cpu/gpu architecture which is actually gonna be apu tech. Its unified and not used on gaming rigs right now. If u wanna be a pc gamer, be a pc gamer. Console architecture is built to be more than the sum of its parts. And because so many of the exact same architecture are sold, companies study and learn it and build slecifically for its design. This is why consoles manage to release so many great games. Its where the money is.

Unless any of the current available PC hardware offer the ditto design architecture and ditto specs in terms of memory, bandwidth etc. as that of PS4 ... the point of building your own dedicated gaming machine that will be comparable to PS4 is rather pointless.

Sure you can build a PC with similar specs to a PS4.

But you wont get the DS4, PS4 exclusive games, software optimizations, PS+ and more. And add the negatives of owning a PC which are a heavy operating system, viruses, malware and etc.

Seriously in the end its just better to get a PS4 then a PC with the same specs.

Alright, another article to kindle the PS4 fanbot war machine. Let me guess ALL PC gamers are responsible for this So lets burn all PC gamers at the stake. Were all insecure, millionares with a system with no exclusives or games in general with the inferior system that has no optimization and costs $50,000 just to play at medium. Yet, this article is just speculation. Sony haven't actually revealed specific specs, except for the ram, which is 8GB GDDR5.

They haven't said anything about the rest except the cpu architecture. That article is also speculating when it says "Clocked at 1.6Ghz". Nothing was revealed about this ever except some very old prototype and dev kits. It was probably changed since then.

For god's sake, they haven't even revealed what size the HDD will be and people are speculating about non-sense. Geez.

Also, if it costs 400-450$ to produce, you can be sure it will cost 300-350$. Sony always sell at a loss and get their money from software and accessory. It's illogical to think that this would change this time.

i would say this: they should price the PS4 at a reasonable price point to where Sony wont regret the decision of making that price and they wont loose a profit of the platform and they also have to look at the gaming community and the economy and what it will look like by the time launch day does come so that they know that we can afford it. so with that i can say that the price of the PS4 should be between $349 and $449 so that they don't loose out and we don't pay top dollar cause the Wii U was $299 and $350 cause they added more ports and a slightly better processor. but with the PS4 its a completely different beast and it should be priced that way to accommodate the x86 chip and the 8GB of on board memory and the local hard drive which we don't know how much that is yet and 176 MB/s processing power. so i believe that its a reasonable price. now $300 to $400 is OK but it may not turn a profit for the industry and that will not help their cause of bringing results rather than turmoil.

The appeal of the PS4 is all the studios who make GAMES just for that platform. Build your own PS4 but don't have any of the games to go with it. Sounds like a great idea ya moron.
