Like the Gaikai guy said, be sure to re-tweet in order to spread the word out online!

I agree maybe 5 years after 2007.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Makes me wonder if they will have a full sevrice for everyone? They said they had 50Million people playing per month. That is a lot to go along side ps3 fanbase.
http://www.gaikai.com/

Or Sony will just ignore the 50 M player and say meh?

DeadlyFire4111d ago

Depends on where you live at the moment Broadband structure for some areas is terrible if you live in the sticks like me and I assume TheKayle.

5-10 Mbps is claimed to be all that is needed to run this just fine. My 3 Mbps doesn't even let Gaikai appear. So it will be a few more years for me.

Executive orders all around the globe are set for most countries to reach 25-100 Mbps as a national average by 2020-2025. So when that spreads and prices drop enough I will upgrade and then see Gaikai for myself and other Cloud services.

TheKayle4111d ago (Edited 4111d ago )

ppl just dont know what they r talking about..coz most r chidlren crying for something ..

"Worldwide averages
The average connection speed for Internet users worldwide, not just among these 50 countries, but all countries, is an average of 1.8 Mbit/s. As an average, this is actually pretty good, but as you’ve seen, there are plenty of extremes in either direction.

And here’s how the various connection speeds are distributed. Once again, this is not among these 50 countries, this is for the world seen as a whole (from Akamai’s perspective)."

http://royal.pingdom.com/20...

The average connection bandwith in USA is 4.6 MBits/s im saying average ....in California/Messico is 2 and something ..in my country Italy is 3 Mbits/s etc etc ...imagine that ...to have a GOOD service we would have an avrage speed of 7.5 (more 8)

Another point also if u think ur connection is FIXED..it isnt..it can change in 1 sec depending on the amount of bandwith the provider can give to u in that precise second...(on every contract u have a BASE that they will give that isnt the average speed and not the peak. I mean i got a 20Mb connection and the company can give me MINIMUM 6.4Mb as the contract say.....it could be also 20 ...but MINIMUM 6.4 it depend where u live...the line etc etc)

Then theres the problem about the CAPS provider give.....here initaly we dont have this problem but my gf in australia have it...and i know that in usa and canada a lots of provider works like that....Now imagine to play always in streaming /voice chat/your internet browsing/download some apps/movie/music/playing online not with gaikai...YAYYYY 10 days after u can say bye to ur monthly cap connection

From wikipedia:

"Gaikai recommends an Internet connection of 5 Mbit/s or faster, and a 3 Mbit/s connection meets the minimum system requirements."

It could change if ur position is distant more than 1.5Km from the Access Point...(your TRUE company switch) it could be jumping up and down if u have a lots os noises on the line...it could BE BAD if u have a bad SNR margin for constant download

now imagine that u r playing ur single player campaign with BF3...and the graphics change from good to bad ..to AWESOME.....and then drop the line...then reconnect etc etc etc....

Gaikai reccomends 5 Mbits or FASTER......yeah it work also with 3..(i suppose)...like windows 8 can run also with 1 gb ram
Gaikai was builded around the Japan Korean Chinese connections that r pretty better than our western connections....

To Fix this problem theres nothing gaikai..or sony or apple and ms together can do....if not just wait ..states..upgrade their lines

well...i been good saying in 5 years....i think more 8/10

But one think is true....as @TheRealHeisenberg said ...they have to start somewhere

if sony do something ...they will give just some demo on it...IMHO

Would be great if these Cloud services were also Internet Service Providers, or at least partnered up with one and offer some sort of bundle.

ZeroX98764112d ago

with fiber optic connection 80mb down/40mb up, Bring it on Gaikai!
I'm ready like never before. I can't wait to test this new connection and see if a wide range of ps1/ps2/ps3 games will be available.

specsmatter4112d ago

I have 120 mbps dl speeds from Verizon Fios so im ready lol.

At any given timesi have two computers online and two ps3's online at the same time and don't have any internet issues.

I cant wait for the Gakai stuff to start rolling and to see what sony has in store for us. I know it will be awesome!!!!

ZeroX98764112d ago

HOLY! 120 mbps that's insane!
Gaikai got a lot of potential. Can't wait to see what's the price for subscription per month.

specsmatter4112d ago

It can go up to 120 but i rarely ever see that it averages more like 75 mbps constantly which is good.

BitbyDeath4112d ago (Edited 4112d ago )

I only get around 7mbps :-(

Cryptcuzz4112d ago

Gaikai is what I am most interested in finding out how Sony would implement in Playstation.

There are so many possibilities and I cannot wait til they release their plans for it.

Microsoft’s Surface and Xbox hardware revenues take a big hit in Q3

Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.

solideagle12h ago

you should apply in MS PR team buddy, I think you will do a great job in my humble opinion :)

Sonic18819h ago

I thought darthv72 and Obscure_Observer already work for Microsoft 🤔

dveio9h ago

MS: "Xbox services and content without AB up 1%, with AB up 62%. Hardware down 31%. In total a loss of 350 mill."

darthv72: "Seems about right."

MS: "Excuse m ..."

darthv72: "I don't hardly play on my consoles directly."

MS:

Lightning774h ago

What he said was facts. How he plays games is no concern of you. Don't get too mad about it.

Cacabunga11h ago

I can tell people like you are an absolute minority..

If service is up means their fans and fanboys accepted this model and subscribed to it. The near future you will see a big decline because the service is saturated.

shinoff218311h ago

But that's been ms for years. When things aren't going their way they try to change the way things are said. For instance console sales are down, they stop telling how many sold instead telling us how many hours spent in halo or headshots. So it makes sense console sales down just say people are playing on more devices then previous. What they won't say is how many xbox players jumped ship to ps5.

Cacabunga9h ago

Hardware sales are so bad that Sony and Nintendo are blowing the sales off the water with their hardware.

If Xbox are losers, others aren’t..
Xbox already tried everything with Xbox live then subscriptions went down so much that they had to find something else. Their fans subscribed then reached saturation rather quickly.

Hardware and exclusive games is where it’s at! Keep gamers excited, announce decent software and people will support you

itsmebryan5h ago

@shin
Well keep it simple Sony 's operating income is down 26% and Microsoft's is up 32%. No MS spin there, just facts. 😉
Cheers

romulus234h ago

Odd that a company that touts you dont need the hardware to play is already touting another console in the works.

darthv724h ago

They are not reliant on the HW but still want to maintain a presence (no matter how small) is a good thing. It shows commitment to the craft. It reminds me of SNK and how they made games for their own hardware (Neo Geo) while also making them for others because they knew there was a market to do so. They knew they would sell more to others but also sell to their own niche fan base.

Xbox hardware revenue tanks to lowest point of Xbox Series generation

Profchaos14h ago

I'm not surprised surface is struggling they aren't relevant anymore

DOMination-3h ago

In the last two years they've started exiting the consumer market altogether. All of the newest Surface products are business models only. They can't seem to work out what they want to do with it.

XBManiac13h ago

Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.

SimpleDad13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."

That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.

purple10112h ago

Activision: "we gonna need a bigger rucksack/backpack please"

Microsoft: "why's that"

Activision: "to carry yo' weak ass'

Profchaos12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Top brass have also wanted to start seeing returns on the 100 billion they have put into various Xbox related moves so seeing more multiplatform games is highly likely especially from abk

It's basically saying that PlayStation is the reason Xbox is afloat right now thinks to Ps5 versions of COD

Kornholic11h ago

So basically PS and PC gamers' money is keeping Xbox on life support.

MrDead4h ago

The only growth MS will get out of the console industry is if it supports it's rivals platforms. Xbox is a pointless machine now. I can see them on a big push for live next, and they won't give up on trying to buy Steam.

Why Monopolies In Gaming Must Not Be Allowed

As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.

thorstein23h ago

Shouldn't be allowed in any field.

Inverno20h ago

And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.

jwillj2k418h ago

Eventually they’ll realize the value is with the employee not the company. Buying an IP means nothing if the people who contributed are let go. They’ll get it one day.

MrCrimson18h ago

tech is different because they buy threats and then kill them. Twitter bought Vine and did nothing with it. Despite people seemingly liking it. Could've had tiktok a decade before bytedance. go figure.

Zenzuu19h ago

Monopolies shouldn't be allowed regardless. Not just for gaming.

MrCrimson18h ago

They buy IPs not talent. That's why these buyouts never work and the IPs die. Right now it's too expensive to develop games - but I expect that to shift maybe as AI tools can make it easier. The best games have been indie games for awhile as big developers fuck their ips to death with "games as a service" -
