Gamer: Someone who plays games all day and all night.
These mysterious creatures form spiritual bonds with a lump of plastic, often defending that piece of plastic to the bitter, bloody end.
Gamers joins websites in the dark corners of the internet and have verbal battles, which often leading to lifelong grudges.
Pictures of girls sends this creature into a frenzy, ironically, it's only in this savage frenzy that gamers actually get along with one another.
Gamers are the scapegoats of society.
Gamers have mastered the art of playing with one hand, often holding a drink, food or a body part in the other.
Gamers are not shy about attacking other gamers, but if a regular person attacks gaming, they will unite, moan and disperse in a matter of minutes.
Certain gamers let their plastic box go to their heads and lash out at anyone who doesn't share their opinion. If you even speak to one of these "Feral Gamers", you will begin to lose brain cells. Avoid at all costs.

A GAMER IS A HUMAN BEING FROM PLANET EARTH.

Outside_ofthe_Box4154d ago

A gamer is someone who plays video games as a hobby.

MyCarAndMyGuitar4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

It's not a hobby, it's a passion.

A hobby often is a person's passion.

FPS-loving morons? (c) Hideo Kojima

zebrahim4153d ago

A true gamer buys games for the love of the experience it provides. A sense of escapism. A true gamer defends his right to engage in constrive debate on the issues and affords opinion an opportunity to permeate his perception. A new generation gamer struggles to find work...uses games to pacify their obvious inadequacies and hijacks forums to try and convince gamers of three things.

1. Consoles for next gen should be sold at $300. Because they are too lazy to work and save up for a proper gaming experience.
2. Advises gamers of their superiority when it's obvious they can't hold down a conversation due to their ADD.
3. Forces their ignorant opinion on why one console brand is better than the next because they can only afford 1.

So....there will be chaos in 2013-14 as these lazy Generation Y gamers pursue their desperate attempts to enforce mainstream mediocrity. Game companies will go bankrupt and we will be forced to play games that require inaccurate body gestures aimed at a younger generation. We will have no choice but to play sport games that tweak minor advances year on year. Eventually we will have to adapt to 99c games on a thin screen that tries hard to mimick a proper gaming experience.

zerocrossing4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

Actually I'm a generation Y gamer (25 fits the bill if I'm not mistaken) and I don't do any of that negative stuff you mentioned.

I'm probably as angry and bitter as you are given the current state of the gaming industry, but generalising and segregating an entire demographic and labeling them as some kind reason/cause for all negativity in gaming is missing the bigger picture.

The mainstream media is the real problem, catering to the ignorant, lazy, misinformed posers who have the gull to call themselves "gamers" whilst playing only the latest COD or so called AAA titles they're told to all year round, that is what hurts the industry.

I will always say gaming is at it's best when games are created as a form of art, not when designed by checklist to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

How Many More Victims, Like Garry's Mod, Will Nintendo's Hurtful Crusade Create?

Hanzala from eXputer: "As Nintendo takes out 20 years' worth of stuff from Garry's Mod, I watch in shock, thinking why it continues to hurt and discourage its fans."

RiseNShine9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

The irony that some of the most disgusting business practices come from companies like Disney or Nintendo, i can't even begin to understand what terrible damage was Garrys Mod making to Nintendo bottom line, imho they're getting pretty nervous about where they're heading in the future, handhelds are no longer something exclusive to Nintendo, from Steam Deck to many others, now you can play the latest games and pay a fraction of the price on Steam sales, so it's up to their exclusives, which just on their own would make hard to justify purchasing a closed overpriced hardware with outrageous price policies (Super Mario Odyssey is still 60 euro 6 years later!), and as a home console they're always underperforming compared to Sony or Xbox.

gold_drake9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

i cam guarantee you, that their exclusives alone is what drives switch sales. they sell in the 10s of millions of copies.

nintendo created their franchises to be sort of nostalgia driven, exclusive only on nintendo.

people will always buy the pkmn games as they always bring in new younger fans amd is family friendly

mario kart, the same thing, mario games in general.

zelda games are system sellers. animal crossing for the casual gamers.

nintendo doesnt need third vame devs essentially. they made sure with the switch and the limitations that they looked more to pc ps and xbox.

its sad, but nintendo is more than fine with what they're doing. they positioned themselves to appeal to the more casual gamers.

but to your point, im not sure why they're doing this rly.

Look at how they handled Nintendo games being streamed or uploaded on YouTube in the past. They killed Yuzu and Citra even when they had nothing to do with ToTK being leaked, not to mention it was basically unplayable on emulation the week it was leaked. Smash Bros tournament, that was fairly recent. They shut down their online services without any care for purchases made. I bought a switch after skipping their last 2 consoles and handhelds but I don't plan on buying anything Nintendo in the future. They take things to the extremes, they legitimately hate their fans. They're honestly right up there with the likes of Acti, EA, and Ubi, only difference is that they disguise themselves as being family friendly all the while being shady.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
