The Xbox 360 Has Just One Exclusive For 2013

laygamer.net: 2012 is done and dusted for gaming this year, with Far Cry 3 being the last real notable release on the gaming calendar. Well, except for those Wii U games that Geoff is burning his life-force away to get finished and reviewed. And that Epic Mickey game on the 3DS that I’m certain is a form of a divine punishment. But enough of that! What’s 2013 got in store for gamers then, huh? Let’s take a looksie.

Now to play Devil's Advocate on both side of the Fence.

Good: Obviously MS is prepping for the Nextbox and new IPs on that.

Bad: One exclusive of a semi-tired franchise to tide over 360 fans.

Oh, and I know that this list is missing a couple exclusives on all the platforms too; Deadly Premonition comes to mind. And DL titles aren't on there either, but they still count.

StanLee4154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

It seems Microsoft has already moved its major studios to next gen development. Playground Games made Forza Horizon while Turn 10 works on a true next gen Forza sequel. 343i has already revealed work on the next Halo has started and People Can Fly are developing Gears of War Judgement which leads me to assume Epic is already at work on a next gen Gears of War game. I haven't seen anything on Crytek's XBox exclusive title since it was announced almost 2 years ago so I'm assuming that will be released next gen as well. Microsoft doesn't have many exclusive IPs so it's not surprising to see them ready for a next gen console release by prepping what they do have for a console release timetable.

Boody-Bandit4154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

This --> "Turn 10 works on a true next gen Forza sequel" just made my day! Forza alone is reason enough for me to pony up for new hardware. I hope it's a release title and they continue to support triple screens.

EVILDEAD3604154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

We ALL know in June 2013, the new consoles will show up at E3 2013.

So let's go month for month and see WHEN the BIG exclusives and Multiplats come out to get a the true whole picture of what the gaming landscape will be prior to 2013.

First let's set up January for the now 7 year old 360..

On January first MS will have come off a holiday where the biggest exclusive of 2012, Halo 4 will be less than 2 months old and will still chart huge in 2013. Not only that, but just like the VGA world premiere trailer showed H4's co-op spartan Ops episodic campaign starts in 23 Jan 2013.

While the the PS3 gets a worldwide Jan release of Japan's Nu No Kuni that came out in Nov of this year.

Now to the rest of the big games from Jan to June

Jan

Devil May Cry
Nu no kuni (2012) US/EU rlease

Feb

Dead Space 3
Metal Gear Rising
Bioshock: Infinite
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (PS3)

March

Tomb Raider
God of War: Ascension (PS3)
Gears of War: Judgement (360)

April

Dead Island: Riptide

May

GTA V (if not pushed up)
Last of Us (PS3)

June

E3 2013 arrives where we are speculating that the Xbox 720 and the PS4 will be announced.

But if you can speculate about other titles on other systems that have no release date and are simply projected to release in 2013, then you have to point to the the fact that we know two things that are projected for the 360.

- Summer of Arcade of Xbox Live with projected titles that were shown on last year's E3 stage

- Bungie's Destiny which is rumored to be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

At the end of the day,the most notable exclusives early on is that the God of War/ Gears of War prequel battle will be great for both consoles.

And that Naughty Dogs Last of Us will be huge for the PS3, but it comes in the shadow of the collossus (pun intended) Grand Theft Auto 5, which will stop the entire gaming planet when released in the Rockstar 'launch window'

Great times to be a gamer for all systems

Evil

bicfitness4154d ago

Evil, Destiny will not be exclusive. There's no way. Its Actiblizz.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012...

EVILDEAD3604153d ago

@ bicfitness

Yeah..again Destiny is only rumored to be an Xbox console exclusive. Bungieis also to be hiring on the PS3 dev side of things.

The game is supposed to come next Fall, but who knows what will happen at this point.

omi25p4153d ago

I don't see why it matters, There are so many multiPlatforms next year it didn't matter.

Its like this year, The was really only 1 big PS3 exclusive (ASBR) Did it matter? NOPE

@StanLee

I here you saying they are prepping next gen but listen to it.

Turn 10 Prepping Forza 5
Epic prepping Gears 4
343i prepping Halo 5

This is still the same games we have played for years. MS needs to have their studios do something else. Turn 10 could make an RPG, Epic could make a fighting game, 343i is stuck with Halo, but other Ms developers could start doing something original and fresh. It doesn't hurt to innovate a little.

ALLWRONG4154d ago

Like Sony isn't working on the next gen SOCOM 14 or Uncharted 4 or Killzone 4 right?

MikeMyers4154d ago

Why would Turn 10 make an RPG? Would you expect Polyphony Digital to make an RPG? What Microsoft needs is to invest into more studios and I think they have. I would like to see Rare do more.

Riderz13374154d ago

Prepping for Gears 4 when Gears of War: Judgement isn't even out yet? Epic is Putting such dedication for Judgement I see...

SilentNegotiator4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

@All wrong

But they ALSO brought us incredible, unique games like inFamous, LBP, Demon's Souls, etc.

That's what puts the gaming experience of Playstation a mile ahead of the competition.

JustInTlME4153d ago

@Riderz1337. The fact that epic isn't making judgment makes your statement make no sense.... People can ally are behind judgement, aka, epics subdivision...people who made Bulletstorm....

Riderz13374153d ago

@JustInTlME, Oh the people who made Bulletstorm are making Judgement? Well that's reassuring.

omi25p4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

Silent Negotiator

Microsoft didn't bring unique Exclusives?

Excuse me while i through Alan wake out of the window.

Lets also think of Games that originaly only released on xbox then later came out on everything else.

Bioshock and Mass effect.

Then think how Gears has revolutionized this gen by showing us how powerful the current consoles are and how a cover system should be done.

SilentNegotiator4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

@omi

Alan Wake was going to be a PC game (and originally open world, but I'm SURE we don't have console limitations, that came into play after Microsoft stepped in, to thank for that /s) and Bioshock launched on PC same day as 360.

And Gears was only revolutionary in popularizing generic cover-based romps.

THE_MACGREGOR4153d ago

True. Id love to see microsoft redo a version of nfl fever provided e.a and the nfl can get out of bed. Im all anout some halo...the universe is filthy rich with content. Forza alright. And gears is dead not much to appealing after 3's story arch. Would like to see some ages of the empires on xbox. Munches oddesy maybe...Psychonaughts 2. Halo 2 remake?

Xbox 360 has 13 currently untitled exclusive games slated for 2013. Not including Kinect games.

Good attempt at trolling. Website voted down.

BitbyDeath4153d ago

Your link doesn't mention 13 exclusive games for 2013, you got another?

AngelicIceDiamond4153d ago (Edited 4153d ago )

Its useless, any facts you come up with, knowledgeable predictions and good opinions N4G will just disagree and spin everything.

Leave it to this site predict MS gaming future since they know everyting.

Nobody wins excepts the Sony fans its always about them, am I right N4G?

Either way, Gears and a bunch of XBL titles and third party games should tie people over until E3, Simple.

Godchild10204154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

I'm sure Microsoft has some XBLA titles coming exclusively to the 360 next year and maybe a hidden retail title that is not Kinect required. Then again, they could always leave to third party like the did with the first Xbox.

Why does all the sites that talk about the games coming out in 2013 use that image, if there are errors on it. Where is MLB 13: The Show?

raytraceme4154d ago

for the ps3 side they also left out until dawn and rain.

pr0digyZA4154d ago

There are quite a few mistakes, and omissions for instance I see they are missing a few PC exclusives like : starforge, warface (crytek), marvel heroes online, x:rebirth (looks stunning) and mount and blade 2 (on a new engine).
I think this does give a good idea though.

Heres another interesting one:

Godchild10204154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

That is pretty good, except Scribblenuats Unlimited is already out. I picked up the limited edition and got a Pink hat. I will have a grand time with my Handhelds next year. Bubs+

rbailey4154d ago

A great list of all the exclusives across each platform.

As an owner of both consoles, I can't help but be disappointed with Microsoft's steady decline of exclusives over the last couple of years. Even if they have XBLA titles, that's still isn't enough because 9 times out of 10 every game isn't going to be a sure fire hit.

One thing that no gamer will deny is that at least Sony had a healthy dose of exclusives this generation. Last Of Us will be the game everyone will be talking about next year. I can guarantee that 100%.

Hands Up For Games4154d ago

Grand Theft Auto stopped by to say hello. Hello :)

MariaHelFutura4154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

Games don't talk.

WetN00dle694154d ago

They can if you personify them.

MaxXAttaxX4153d ago

People forget that not everyone cares that much for GTA.

Knight_Crawler4154d ago

Don't think you should ride of XBLA so early.

I bought Minecraft over 2 months ago and its the best 1600 MS points that I have spent...I always wondered what the hype was for this pixelated game but after playing it I see what people were talking about.

MS made a smart move on making MC a 360 console exclusive...you would be surprise how many kids ask there mom for a 360 just to play MC.

Mark my words as the economy is getting worst more people will be looking to buy XBLA and indie games over $60 retail games.

insomnium24154d ago

MS got you Kinect mah boy...:)

M2-4154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

On the PS3 side
1. Ni no Kuni (Not exclusive, released in 2010 DS and 2011 PS3)
2. Atelier Ayesha (Released in 2012)
3. Tales of Xillia/2 (Released in 2011 and 2012)
4. Yakuza 5 (released in 2012)

francknara64154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

99% of the gamers on N4G are US or EU people. Ninokuni DS isn't the same game(graphics are way more ambitious on PS3, and the battle system is different, for exemple), and none of those games has ever reached US or EU. All those games release EXCLUSIVELY ON PS3 in 2013 in our territories. Except Yakuza 5, who has no date (and may never have) for now.

ps: Sorry for my english.

Godchild10204154d ago

None of those games released in the US/EU. So they are relatively new to us. Also Yakuza 5 just released this month in Japan or later this month.

No one mentioned The Last Story, XenoBlade or Phantom Breaker when they were getting localized here in the states or Europe. So, why do it to the Ps3?

bicfitness4154d ago

The PS3 Ni-no is vastly different from the DS version. They have similar stories, but everything else is different. So it is exclusive.

M2-4154d ago

Why is this logic always used for Japanese PS3 games? If it is not localized it does not exist. Do you not see the flaw in this logic?

Godchild10204154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

It does count as a game, but it can't be singled out for being released in the US after a period of time because it was released in another region before reaching another.

I asked you the same thing about The Last Story and Xenoblade, why is it that it is still consider an exclusive and a new release for that system when it was releasing last year, but not PS3 Japanese localized games?

The game is still a new release for that year in a new region and that is why it should be listed. Your post was so vague that, we can take it anyway and it could be completely wrong as to what you were trying to get at.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies14h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken10h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 1h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 1h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos22h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt13h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken9h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 7h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 6h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 6h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies20h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
