Humble Bundle (previously known as the Humble INDIE Bundle) has announced its first partnership with a major game publisher with the Humble THQ Bundle. Is this another charitable move to help out a publisher in financial crisis, or has Humble Bundle sold out? What happens when our grassroots indie movements get absorbed into the corporate model?
“April was an indie-heavy month and it was hard to pick the best games but here we go! Hope you have fun and see something you like.” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
“Another month has passed us by and during it, many incredible indie games released so let's celebrate the 12 best from March 2024.” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
“February is always a short month but it sure didn't feel like it with all of the top-quality indies that released during it. Let's dive right in!” - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums.
Curious why this is failing. Does nobody care about the state of indie gaming? Here's a snippet of what I've said elsewhere: The creative industry might survive by monopolizing, but it thrives by diversifying. I honestly think they (THQ) should just die. That is the nature of businesses, or at least it should be. They flare up, they turn a profit for a while, and then they die out. Otherwise, you have 3 companies owning everything and forcing abhorrent business practices on their subsidiaries in order to grow their shares. Since THQ is a publicly-traded company, they have a bigger "responsibility" to their shareholders than they do to their employees, the true artists (not to mention their customers). Indie game developers don't have the same issue.
