Wii U Gamepad 3D Output Confirmed

At Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed III Launch Party here in Montreal, a Product Manager shared with IMGMR.com that the Gamepad is actually 3D enabled and will be usable in games like Assassin's Creed III. Now, comes the confirmation.

nassour4187d ago

seems like its not, and the pics prove it

lashes2ashes4187d ago

How do the pics prove it. When the 3ds came out we all learned you can't see the 3d effect in photos or vids.

nveenio4186d ago (Edited 4186d ago )

It's not interlaced 3D. It's anaglyph, side-by-side, or top/bottom. There is no parallax technique as we see with the 3DS.

Tired4186d ago (Edited 4186d ago )

Gamepad 3D? I don't think so.

The fact the settings state anaglyph, SBS and TNB are the givaway. These are settings for various 3D tv's. All this does is confirm that the WiiU plays AC3 in 3D with compatible tv's. Or all screens via anaglyph.

Under the 3D settings is the option to play on the gamepad itself. There are no pictures of the gamepad running anaglyph pictures. Why not?

I call BS!

*edit* Even if anaglyph stereoscopy can be viewed on the gamepad that doesn't make it 3D enabled. Because in that case EVERY SINGLE COLOUR tv/phone/lap-top/computer EVER is 3d enabled.

Gamer19824186d ago

quote from article "The green and magenta 3D glasses needed to experience this visual sensation come from Inficolor.". Its anaglyph 3D any TV can do this form of 3D you can even get this 3D method from books/magazines.

ChampOfChamps4187d ago

So did I at first, but Jesus Christ! Who would've known?! Thanks imgmr, this definitely gives me another excuse to pick up the Wii U!

kneon4187d ago

It said it can do 3D with the use of the colored glasses. That doesn't require any special screen, any screen can do it so long as it's in color.

Lior4187d ago

I play this gam on my LG 50inch 3Dtv on my ps3 big whoop

Jon_Fu_4187d ago

This 3D craze is really doing it for me.

gemugurl4187d ago

That makes AC3 worth trying on the WiiU since the gameplay will be a bit different

kupomogli4187d ago

It won't make the gameplay different one bit. Disappointing game also.

grailly4186d ago

AC3 is also 3D on other platforms

profgerbik4186d ago

Everything is practically 3D on PC.

hum_bug4187d ago

Whhoooaaaa trippy 3D-ness

Thepcz4187d ago (Edited 4187d ago )

if true, this feature will add value to wiiu

no need to splash out on £1000 tv sets for 3d gaming. heck, maybe you could even watch 3d movies and other 3d content on the screen via netflix etc.

great move from nintendo. genius really

ChickeyCantor4187d ago

" The green and magenta 3D glasses needed to experience this visual sensation come from Inficolor. "

Any screen can do this? They aren't clear on how the 3D is rendered.

USEYOURFIST4187d ago

yea your right its not "proper" 3d like a 3ds sceen, just the one any colour tv can do..was excited for a minute untill i saw that lol

metroid324186d ago

Well its when all games support 3d the gampad needs to support it also for off TV Play ? Have a nice day.

Nintendo says Switch 2 will be officially announced before the end of March 2025

This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.

Profchaos16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

I'm excited for a switch 2 however I don't feel it will be coming this year as per the tweet in they are commuting to a reveal in this Japanese financial year in 2025.

Realistically we will get one last holiday season to focus on the switch because it would be madness for Nintendo to go into the holidays where the switch always performs well when they have announced a switch 2.

I'm thinking we see a announcement late Jan 25 personally with a release between March and June depending on when the software is ready and how strong the holday sales were if they need to boost those figures for the next earnings call or not

gold_drake16h ago

yea agreed. they'll probably match it with the new pkmn game they announced

VenomUK15h ago

So it begins!

Where one contender pulls out of the game, another comes back bigger and stronger.

Nintendo Switch 2 - let the games begin.

Cacabunga5h ago

A new Splatoon launch title for sure.. hoping they change the recipe and make it open world.

I think it’ll come out Q1 25. Let’s wait and see

H910h ago

There's a event in June for games on the switch and they said there won't be a switch 2 announcement so no way they will announce the console after june and still release it in the same year

Eonjay10h ago

So, I think they will shoot for another FYQ4 release (like with the first Switch) but I am confused by the headline:

'[...] Switch 2 will be officially ANNOUNCED before the end of March 2025' This implies that the Switch 2 isn't coming out till maybe holiday 2025 or maybe even 2026. I think they will be better served by NOT releasing when GTA 6 launches (unless there is some shocking reveal that it will run on Switch 2). Release early 2025.

Neonridr13h ago

I'd say it'll be released before March 2025 tbh.

notachance12h ago

Holiday announcement with summer launch

thesoftware73011h ago

It should be an interesting year; Sony, Nintendo, and MS all have new Hardware to show.

Zelda Replay: Majora's Mask

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Is Ocarina of Time as legendary as I remembered it? For the most part, yes. In spite of a handful of missteps — a few obtuse puzzles, some tedious backtracking, and a clunky stealth sequence — I don't believe the last 23 years have been unkind to it. Ocarina remains a brilliant example of the medium, a landmark game that shaped the future of its own franchise and 3D gaming in general. After more than two decades it retains its inventive dungeon design, challenging puzzles, dynamic combat, wistful storyline, unforgettable music, and empowering open-air freedom. I feel confident calling it one of the greatest games of the fifth generation, even if I'm no longer prepared to list it among the five best games ever made."

Pure unadulterated fun. They don't make them like this anymore...especially not the triple A industry.

FinalFantasyFanatic8d ago

Back when video rental was a thing, I rented out Majoria's Mask, I never finished it though. I did buy the 3DS version before the eshop shutdown, so maybe one day I'll finally play through the whole thing, it's amazing how well these games hold up though. I briefly played Ocarina of Time for a while and it was really fun.

Wii U games that still haven't been ported to Switch

The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

Z50116d ago

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga16d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

Profchaos16d ago

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas16d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj16d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Chocoburger16d ago

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
