A Nintendo representative made a comment at the Eurogamer Expo that the Wii U is "19 times as powerful" as the PS3.
Suffice it to say that even with the Wii U being more powerful than current generation consoles, it certainly isn't looking 19 times as powerful at the moment.
A new patent recently published by Sony wants to gather biometric data of gamers to track whether one is being harassed using AI tools.
I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.
I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons
I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.
Take my social security and bank account numbers too! Here’s a picture of my wife and our address.
At this rate I feel Sony will eventually sell a room to play games in it where they can monitor your every breath
I want them to censor erotic content by measuring my groin temperature so i dont get too distracted while playing black ops 2.
Terrible idea. Not only do I not consent to providing my biometric data, the potential for mishandling biometric data is almost a certainty. Positive stress and negative stress can produce similar changes in biometrics. Interpreting the precise emotion a person is feeling is not only invasive but could be easily misconstrued. I hope this never comes to fruition.
Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.
This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.
cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
I think the representative was exaggerating (which he shouldn't be doing when informing people while having a hands on experience) as 19x times more powerful than anything is ,well, stupidly more powerful
The Wii U is more powerful than current-gen, no doubt.
But this is bullshit lol. The PS3 and 360 are around 20x more powerful than last gen. Next-gen definitely won't have the same leap that we had this gen, it'd be too damn expensive.
My perception is that the Wii U is 3-4x more powerful than current-gen, with the NextBox and PS4 coming in at around 6-8x more powerful.
Doubt it's THAT powerful. Hopefully nobody blows this out of proportion.
These Nintendo reps have no relationship with Nintendo other than being on hand to help demo the system at events like this. These are the same reps that tried to tell me, while I was playing the Pikmin 3 demo at Eurogamer, that the game would release this holiday, despite it being confirmed numerous times that it's dropping in Q1 2013 from Nintendo themselves.
This claim is bull, to say the least. Not even the Nextbox and PS4 will be 19x the PS3. These meaningless multipliers need to stop. The proof is in the software after all. Hell even if Wii U was 19x more powerful, why is a simple game like New Super Mario Bros. U running in 720p?
Ridiculous. I'm hyped for the system, but I think people need to ground their expectations a little bit. This won't be the leap we've been waiting for. That won't come until the Nextbox and PS4. You know, and I know it.
Edit: @shock. I wouldn't even put it at 4x current gen. It's got a weaker CPU which was confirmed last month I believe. I'll try to find the source. The 1GB of dedicated RAM is what will really make up the difference, but I wouldn't expect anything that makes the likes of Halo 4 and God of War Ascension look like 1st gen PS2 games in comparison.
