NBA 2K13 Review | Tech-Gaming

Although it’s regrettable that flashy embellishments such as modeling a celebrity team and an intricate show creation component were favored over giving the game’s MyPlayer mode a much-needed visual makeover, these failings don’t affect 2K13’s brilliant on-court play. While the title’s new control option requires a bit of devoted study, it ultimately provides players with powerful toolset- elevating Visual Concept’s superlative simulation.

How's the online? last year I heard it would cut people off from XBox Live and it took 2K a while to patch it.

madmad4222d ago

I heard some people are having a really hard time getting used to the dribble stick.

RaptorMan4222d ago

Well, the review said you can use the old control scheme. It's totally optional.

Thepro3184221d ago

Improved dribbling it just take practice to get use. I got the game its good but here my pros cons

Pros
dribbling control
manual button bounce pass
Signature Skills underrated feature

Cons
Same play by play commentary *needs work
To much Jay-Z
To many knockdown shots with hands in shooters face
Online laggy right now
No online lobbies
No upload of sliders
No Crew
Online rank need to be revamped let players play on different difficulties an let player have a blacklist option block teams like Heat

Sound like except for the stick. 2K was slacking.

As much as I like EA, they provided competition for the developers.

CharmingMan4222d ago

I played the demo. I can live with my copy of 2K10 just fine. Maybe when this drops in price.

mediastudies4222d ago

NBA peaked with 2K10. Jordon was cool and all, but the gameplay got worse, IMO.

nba 2k11 blow 2k10 out the water

iceman064221d ago

I agree...NBA2K11 has to be the "peak" of the series...at least in this generation. 2K12 was definitely a step down. However, I just think that it was because they were having a difficult time trying to perfect a game that was pretty close to perfect. That said, 2K13 could honestly supplant 2K11 as my favorite. I am slowly but surely getting used to the added control of the "stick" and it really does seem to work better. Even more, they paid attention to defense and player tendencies...which we all know was needed. Speed is no longer the problem that it was. They added the timely bounce pass. So far, I don't have too many issues with the game. I don't play online...so I can't say anything about that.

No, don't stop. We need competition beetween sports franchises in gaming. Push on and don't stop or the 'winner' will become lazy

PapaBop2050d ago

EA and competition in sports games don't belong in the same sentence. They've had healthy competition in many different sports genres and the ones they could, they monopolised the licenses to effectively kill the competition. Poor Konami in PES were feeding off of scraps with their CL license.. EA went and bought that too. With them, there is no such thing as healthy competition.

I don't know about that, Nba live was the basketball game to get until Nba live 07 came out.

CraigGOA2050d ago

If you look at Metacritic NBA2K games have constantly outdone NBA Live. And a lot forget how much of a jump the original NBA2K was as it was only on the Sega Dreamcast which many gamers ignored due to pure ignorance and lack of knowledge on just how great that console was.

Minute Man 7212050d ago (Edited 2050d ago )

The last good ones were Live 04 n 05 for ps2 era n Live 06 last gen

Einhander19712050d ago

Dear EA just stop making games full stop.

XiNatsuDragnel2050d ago

EA stop making any games by that note.

The man who sold the world from MGS V? If any song is to be remembered from that game it's Here's to you by Joan Baez/Ennio Morricone. That scene gave me goosebumps.

Stupid article. Music in games should be recognized for their impact like the crossing into Mexico in RDR. Not just tunes on the disc

Top 10 Basketball Video Games

Basketball is a sport that any child in America has played at one point or another. It was one of the key sports in gym classes across the country, and only continues to grow because it’s accessibility.

All you need is a ball and a basket.

If you’re like me, however, you’ll soon realize that you aren’t that great at basketball.

Despite this, you try and emulate Michael Jordan with the tongue hanging out, or, for kids today, doing three goggles after hitting a bucket. Still, at the end of the day, we may not have a future in the NBA.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the game we love.

I would add a couple personal favorites from LONG ago. NBA In The Zone...cuz you could play a MJ (though they changed his number and name...which you could change back...it was STILL MJ...and it was before NBA Live 2000). Double Dribble...cuz you could finally see dunks! NBA ShootOut...cuz they finally added a bit of skill to shooting. Oh...and Magic Johnson vs. Larry Bird One On One...cuz it's the first one I ever played.
