PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale: The Final Launch Run-Down

It's been a long, winding road for Sony's multiplayer fighting game PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, with developer SuperBot Entertainment throwing in a lot of familiar faces that will go head-to-head against each other. But, finally, they've finalized the initial roster for the game, which will be launching next month on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, both in physical retail form and through PlayStation Network.

"they've finalized the initial roster for the game"
i hope they add some secret characters they haven't announced

im not disappointed with the roster but i did expect a bit more

still buying this game day 1

I am going to wait for someone from Superbot to say this is the final 20. Until then I will remain optimistic that there are some more.

If not then too bad, but the game was fun at TGS so I expect the latest build (TGS demo was slightly older) to be even better.

We should know by October 10 as Paul as been told of more characters and has asked Superbot if he can release this info.

Only 20 characters
Feels like they missed a lot of great characters.
But like Princejb134 said I hope they have secret/unlockable characters they didn't mention.
but I'm disappointed with the roster, should have at least put spyro and crash in it. Then it would have been great.
still buying day one though! =)

I don't understand this... Let's look at the facts.

Sid Shuman said on the PS Blog that the roster is final at 20. Now no-one confirmed or denied this officially. If it were true, surely Superbot would come out and make a statement? Then again, it wasn't denied, so it could be true.

I dunno what to make of it, but it's clear there will be some DLC characters, either way.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Launched 10 Years Too Early

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop521d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard521d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer527d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
