Is 'Bad Piggies' Good For Business?

Is Rovio playing it safe with their Angry Birds spin-off Bad Piggies, or is it the kind of risk they need to make to continue their success?

who cares, it is a mobile game. you could fit the review on a twitter tweet

CFerrendelli4225d ago

This mobile game will sell more copies than almost every game you play this year.

El_Colombiano4225d ago

Oh that's right. I forgot that sales = how good a game is.

killerhog4225d ago (Edited 4225d ago )

its the free version of angry birds that has the most downloads, and that goes for mostly all the mainstream mobile games, its their free version that everyone is downloading.

CFerrendelli4225d ago

The article posted is about whether 'Bad Piggies' was a smart move for Rovio or not in terms of economics. It has nothing to do with the quality of the game. The reason we should care is because Rovio sells more copies and is more known than some of the best AAA developers out there. Whether their games are good or not, there a company you should pay attention to for their power alone.

They made another fun game...

Let's leave it at that.

I'm personally happy that they give us so much content for $0.99. They add levels all the time, too. FOR FREE!

People are stupid. until they smarten up and stop being tricked into playing these distraction apps this will continue.

People at one time bought millions of beenie babies because they thought they would be worth a ton of money.

That is how stupid we are.

Derpy4225d ago

Though personally not a huge fan of these games myself, there is nothing stupid about people playing a game that they have fun with, regardless of the platform or genre.

The stupid ones are kids who think any one who doesn't share their tastes is stupid.

I never played Angry Birds, never seen it live, and i'm proud. I won't eat the cereal. Birds with eyebrows i can do without.

IamTylerDurden1373d ago (Edited 373d ago )

Not into mobile. Idgaf. Flex...ok. Angry Birds looks dumb af. Not for me. Not into the acquisition or AB craze. Sorry if it offends you. If Sega wanted in on mobile i can think of 800m better spent.

IamTylerDurden1372d ago

Angry Bird sympathizers. I won't even eat the AB gummies. I stay flexing.

Also, my first post wasn't meant as a flex, i was goofing about. AB does look dumb but idc. Man, Angry Army of bird lovin folk. I apologize. Eyebrows on birds are ok.

XiNatsuDragnel374d ago

Probably getting more devs for arcade, Mobile and console platforms.

Profchaos373d ago

Sega has wanted to make it big in the mobile space for the past decade anyone remember that nightmare called sonic 4

Sgt_Slaughter373d ago

One of the unfortunate parts of my Steam library after I bought one of the Sonic Humble Bundles years ago

Profchaos372d ago

You're not alone I suffered to that character model and animation still haunts me

SEGA to Acquire Angry Birds Maker Rovio Entertainment for $775M

SEGA has just acquired Angry Birds studio Rovio Entertainment for $775 million, and looks to use the studio's expertise in mobile gaming.

XiNatsuDragnel375d ago

Nice Sega mobile about to make Sonic mobile

solideagle375d ago (Edited 375d ago )

wow 775 million I thought Rovio was going serious downhill. As I saw multiple youtube videos on it. Rovio was supposed to be a juggernaut gaming company but management they went in all direction based only on 1 IP.

Relientk77375d ago

We are definitely getting an Angry Birds Sonic edition

DarXyde375d ago

I feel like that was kind of what Shadow the Hedgehog was.

Plenty of edge and seething, and if you played it traditionally (without weapons), Shadow throws himself at enemies.

... Similar enough

Fonsecap374d ago

Nah, we're getting Alexx "The Angry" Kid :)

FinalFantasyFanatic374d ago

Oh god, a mobile game about Angry Sonic, I suppose we already have Ugly Sonic, why not?

Sega upping their own value if anyone wants to acquire them! Not just getting console expertise but mobile now as well.

GameBoyColor375d ago

I doubt being acquired is in their plans. I used to think sega was in the dumps like capcom was in 2012-2014 but they own so many arcades, pachinko machines, and they publish western games in japan. They were able to buy out atlus and now this company, i think they in a position to not be touched.

Viljong375d ago

Nice everything in finland is for sale. We even sold nokia and our own electricity network so global corporations can charge us from something that is made with taxpayer money.

Shane Kim375d ago

Hey, kinda sounds like Sweden.

darkrider375d ago

Sega got angry birds. That's crazy. How did Microsoft let this one escape

thesoftware730375d ago

They were too busy buying the company that wasn't tanking. You know the top-rated ones.

Good for Sega, maybe they can right the ship.

LG_Fox_Brazil375d ago

The top-rated ones managed by rapists, you mean

Sega Nears Deal For ‘Angry Birds’ Mobile Game Maker

The Japan-based entertainment conglomerate is expected to pay about $1 billion for Rovio Entertainment.

sparky77377d ago

If you want to remain relevant you need a mobile powerhouse. MS got Minecraft, maybe King soon, T2 got Zynga, EA got Glu, Tencent got most of the other big ones.

Sony is likely looking for one too or they will be left behind.

Vengeance1138377d ago

Sony already owns the #2 highest grossing mobile game ever in Fate/Grand Order.
That game is close to Genshin Impact levels of monthly revenue.

Lifexline377d ago

Well angry birds still makes money so it’s not a dead horse. They just need another hit.

darthv72377d ago

Angry Sonic, Angry Tails, Angry Amy, Angry Knuckles, Angry Chaos....

Lifexline377d ago

Lol yeah you would be surprised at what could sell. I could see it.

porkChop377d ago

Angry Taxi might actually work.

blackblades377d ago (Edited 377d ago )

Looks like something MS would grab. I wont be surprised some how ms gets Sega with this included magically.

-Foxtrot376d ago

We could fund more games like Sonic Mania

We could buy the music rights back to Sonic 3

We could reboot some old franchises like Ristar, Shinobi, Gunstar Heroes or Golden Axe

...Nah. Angry Birds it is

Snookies12377d ago

Wait, have they even made anything since then? Thought they were a one-hit wonder lol.

darthv72377d ago

I didn't know they did a bunch of stuff prior to Angry Birds:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

Pretty much everything since has been a spin off. Now maybe Sega will make Angry Chaos or something similar.

FallenAngel1984377d ago

Mojang only made one game and Microsoft still purchased them for $4 billion

Sometimes one property is all you need especially when it’s lucrative

MadLad377d ago

Angry Birds fell out of relevance years ago, but whatever they want to do lol.
