Its a new game but I`d say Sound shapes was worth a place on this list.
Also its not out yet but Ni no kuni looks amazing graphically, I cant wait for that game. Can't argue with FFX and Okami though

Yeah looking over the article again its crazy nobody mentioned Wind Waker. Still a great looking game today.

vikingland14269d ago

Could you imagine Wind Waker in HD? That would be freakin amazing.

Blastoise4269d ago (Edited 4269d ago )

Double Post. Woops

vikingland14269d ago

I'll probably get disagrees but I think the enviroment in skyrim was beautiful. I must agree that Wind Waker is great looking also.

Perjoss4269d ago

It was very good looking, specially on PC when you added a couple of mods, nothing drastic, just increase view distance and ambient occlusion.

Now if only the dungeons were a bit more varied and didn't have the same 3 puzzles in them over and over. I still think it was amazing despite its flaws.

torchic4269d ago (Edited 4269d ago )

I think a lot of Final Fantasy games can be on this list. that was the appeal back in the day for me.

but yes Final Fantasy X was a very beautiful game. same goes for Mirror's Edge.

I'd add LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD (especially Zone Mode) and Rayman Origins.

Final Fantasy XIII was also pretty, it has unrivalled cutscenes imho.

Pozzle4269d ago

I agree that most FF games could go on this list. Even nowadays, I think games like FFVIII and FFIX look stunning. The character models might be jaggy by today's standards, but the background locations still look absolutely beautiful. A part of me misses pre-rendered backgrounds. They always looked so detailed and so full of life. I could really believe that they are real towns filled with real people. Compare it to FFXIII which had a much larger world, but so much of it felt lifeless and empty.

Can We Finally Admit Assassin's Creed 3 Deserves an Apology?

AC3 was released during a turbulent transition period for Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed series. It ventured into uncharted territory, narratively and mechanically, which caused it to receive mixed reviews. At its core, though, it's a damn good stealth game.

Nope, I hated 3, connar was bland, literally the most flat character in the entire game. Not to mention to myriad of bugs, camera issues, and that annoying thing where he automatically ditches his weapon you payed for for the sake of a cool finishing move forcing you to trek back to your base after almost every encounter just to re-equip your own weapon. It just didn't work as fluidly as the others like 2 and 4

Samonuske197d ago

The series peaked at AC3 for me. It’s been my favourite in the series. Connor will always be one of my favourite video game protagonists.

Becuzisaid197d ago

No. Game was BORING. Connor was really dull. Environments, while impressive, because of the geographic location and time period were not really exciting to be in. I would love some kind of game set in there colonial American time period, but a game like AC that back then centered around parkour and vertical traversal really didn't fit those environments.

-Foxtrot197d ago

Nope

There was a lot of issues but mine is how they handled the war

They told us Connor was not going to get involved, that the war was more of a background setting for the real story and it wasn’t going to be one sided

They lied, even the cinematic E3 trailer showed Connor emerge from the Colonist side and slaughter the red coats to get to his target, inspiring the Colonists to fight back

I just thought it would have made more sense lore wise that the red coats were mostly compiled of Assassins fighting the Colonist templars who wanted to take the new world for themselves.

Since the Red coats lost the war, it would then explain how the Templars started to gain the upper hand and how on the future the assassins were mostly killed off and the Templar’s had pretty much taken over everything.

Instead it just felt like they didn’t want to p*** off the American audience

Even Haytham was cool, he should have been an Assassin through and through and should have been the main lead.

toxic-inferno197d ago

The game even seems to lack the humour of the other games. It almost seems as though the idea of even slightly making fun of American history wouldn't be acceptable.

-Foxtrot197d ago

Exactly

It just felt super safe

“Better not make the colonists look super bad incase people boycott our game”

jeromeface196d ago

someone missed the whole point

-Foxtrot196d ago

There was literally no point

What I've just said above would at least make sense lore wise and why the Assassins start to loose their war, die off and how the Templars are in control in the future of almost everything....what they did was just, pointless

CrimsonWing69197d ago

I’m one one of those weird people that liked Ass Creed 3, but to be fair I never got around to finishing it.

It's so disappointing that to this day, I have not seen a game match what BLACK offers in an FPS.

ApocalypseShadow200d ago

Shame isn't it. I thought we'd be at a point of destructible backgrounds, objects, pyrotechnics etc in shooters. I sold many a copy in the demo unit when I managed a franchise Game Crazy back then. But I stopped playing shooters because they didn't evolve. Heavy weapon. Shoot a wall or glass. Nothing happens. Lol. Except for Killzone 2. I enjoyed that.

But then I woke and remembered it's EA. EA didn't care really. They just wanted to kill competition from Criterion and Burnout. And own Renderware to profit from as many developers used that engine. Only thing was that developers ran as fast as they could away from EA to Unreal Engine and its pop in and Vaseline graphics. Shame on EA. And then they bought Dice for Frostbite. Evil busters.

Anyway, too many PS2 games to count. Some of my personal faves being DMC, Genji, Bujingai, Blood Will Tell, Onimusha, Way of the Samurai, Japanese Berserk, Japanese Macross game that blew away the US Robotech game, RAD, Castlevania Lament of Innocence.... there's just too many. Let me stop. Lol

Cacabunga200d ago

Code Veronica
Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore
The Getaway
Time Crisis 3
Killzone
Mark of Kri
SSX

are some of my all times favorites missing on that list

shinoff2183200d ago

I've always Saud I'm not a fan of fps much , there's been some I really like and thought were really dope. Black falls into that category.

CoNn3rB200d ago

I would love nothing more than a remaster of the Jak series, including Jak X

Flawlessmic200d ago (Edited 200d ago )

The greatest console of all time !!!!

The last console from when gaming was pure, games didn't take 5 years to release, no online only, no half finished games, no mtx.

Ps2 was just banger after banger after banger.

It will always be my favourite.

sagapo200d ago

No Timesplitters in the list??

FinalFantasyFanatic199d ago

This is a really good list, pretty happy with the choices here.
