10 Reasons Why You Should be Excited for Sleeping Dogs

"Sleeping Dogs is an open-world game from Square Enix and United Front Games that looks all sorts of awesome. I’ve been blown away ever since I saw the first trailer for this game, and this is something that has a chance to be a massive critical and commercial success. The game is entirely set in Hong Kong, and you play as Wei Shen, an undercover cop. The premise sounds fantastic already, doesn’t it?"

... and not Kowloon, Lantau, New Territories, which are at least equally as interesting as HK Island.

It's a bit like having GTA4 ONLY having the middle ('Manhattan') part of New York/LC.

Hopefully, this game will be a big success so there will be a chance for a bigger and better sequel which WILL make use of more parts of the city!

Thats what is putting me off buying the game day 1. The map is far too small, we've come to a point now with open world games where they should be bigger. I was disapointed with SR3 that they given the game a smaller map, same with Fallout New Vegas and GTA4.

I mean if your playing this game it could get a bit boring going to the same places or keep seeing them over and over.

The 20 hour story(despite looking good) is also putting me off. Bought GTA4 Complete edition on PSN recently. I'm 33 hours in the main game and I haven't even touched Lost and Damned or Ballad of Gay Tony. If I can gt THAT much story for $30, I'm not paying $60 for Sleeping Dogs Day 1.

SP looks like one of those bargain bin games you get on Black Friday or a Buy 2 gt 1 free sale.

If the game is good enough, and the story itself is 20-hours (like mentioned above), that is probably enough to justify a day one purchase for me. You can still free roam and blaze about in vehicles causing havok, and who knows what else they have in store for side activities. It reminds me of a deeper, open world Yakuza, and I'm okay with that.

It really doesn't put me off - as long as the content is worth it. I think in this case, it is.

One reason it's a good open world game that's good enough.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil10d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai10d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle9d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa9d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal9d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot356d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.
