saladthieves4328d ago

Steam summer sales... one of my weaknesses.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4327d ago (Edited 4327d ago )

And it's one of pc's strengths! If you can pull yourself away from the 50,000+ free portal 2 puzzles that will last for years! or a lifetime?

They don't answer to shareholders so they can take my money!

Winter47th4327d ago

I can't believe I bought Duke Fuc*flipstable*king Nukem yesterday for 10$ on AAAMAAZOON!!

Wagz224327d ago

@winter47th, dude they had the complete pack that comes with the 2 dlc addons for $7 on amazon too I think it was on the next page

saladthieves4327d ago (Edited 4327d ago )

Agreed!

It's just so...tempting, but I've never been disappointed with any purchases so far.

Last summer I bought the THQ bundle that included Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes O.F, Homefront, Metro 2033, MX vs ATV Reflex, Red Faction, Red Faction II, Red Faction Guerrilla, Red Faction Armageddon, all 3 STALKER games, Saints Row II, Titan Quest, 3 of the Warhamer 40,000 games and last but not least, Darksiders...

...all for a total of about $50! I had wanted to play most of the games in the bundle, so I bought it and yeah, every penny was well spent that day. I remember seeing Red Faction Armageddon (PS3/360) in BestBuy going for $59.99, right after buying the THQ bundle on Steam.

I laughed, turned around and walked away.

STONEY44327d ago

Duke Nukem was $6 on Steam back during December.

Good for everyone 11 indie bundles = 11 days of sales.

Which means loads of non bundles games also going dirt cheap!

I'm hoping to pick up HL1/HL2 + all the episodes for them, yes i know i feel dirty having not played them yet

vega2754327d ago

Your not alone I haven't either. But I'm looking to change that with the summer sale. I just hope my wallet forgives me for the aduse I'm about to cause it.

SPAM-FRITTER-1234327d ago

i highly recommend them i got them when i bought every valve game for £25 (best bargain ever)

i also recommend getting the STALKER series when they go on sale. best RPG horror i have ever played.

i am hoping for DR:off the record.

xAlmostPro4327d ago

@spam

i got the stalker games the last time they were cheap, began SoC it's fairly good. Not sure if i'll ply right through though, too many other games haha

JsonHenry4327d ago

Steam summer/winter holiday sales are why I own almost 200 games on steam right now. :)

vickers5004328d ago

Hope Skyrim gets a good sale. Platinum'd it on ps3 and now I found out that you can convert your ps3 save to a pc save, so I can just pick up from where I left my ps3 game.

The mods look pretty good, and a version that runs much faster is very enticing.

archemides5184328d ago (Edited 4328d ago )

also looking for decent price for skyrim, and maybe dead rising 2 if $5

hiredhelp4328d ago

Not much for me i was hoping for darkness 2

xAlmostPro4327d ago

Darkness 2 will go on sale!

This is just the bundles, plenty of non bundle games will go on sale and probably even more bundles than already stated

hiredhelp4327d ago

problem i got is i have to save up xmas time i spent about £80 on sale stuff.
but yeh if i see darkness ill grab it cheap.
cheers xAlmostPro

HammockGames4327d ago (Edited 4327d ago )

If you didn't want to wait you can pick up a Steam code for the Darkness 2 via Amazon (currently $12.49). Not a bad price, not sure what kinda' deal Steam might offer direct though (not sure if the same/similar is available through Amazon UK either).

hiredhelp4327d ago

yeh im uk only mate cheers

SPAM-FRITTER-1234327d ago

although darkness 1 was an amazing game. number 2 was not so good.

SegataShanshiro4327d ago

I played the first one and it almost made kill myself because it was so terrible and boring, the second one is worse you say? Unbelievable

Amplitude4327d ago (Edited 4327d ago )

@Andree1991:
Well some games are more story-based than "SHOOT EVERYONE". The Darkness was the one of the most depressing games i've ever played. I beat it so many times its ridiculous.
I think you should give it another chance and go into it with an open mind and not "I wanna tear people in half with demon arms". I promise you'll like it.

@Spam-fritter-123:
I completely agree lol. But i still dont regret the 50 bucks i spent on it. It wasn't as good as the first but it still had a great story and it was really fun. >.> It seems like they maybe tried to appeal to Andree1991 more with the Darkness 2, with all the action set-pieces and explosions. lol still good though

Gamer19824327d ago

yeah thats a preview theres like only 5 games for each day listed. There is about 10 games per day massively discounted and every major release except recent releases gets a around 25% discount too.

nzace4328d ago (Edited 4328d ago )

I....NEED.... $5 Just Cause 2!!!!!!

xAlmostPro4327d ago

You want the MP mod huh? :P

Megaton4327d ago

Mind = blown

Had no idea there was a multiplayer mod in development for JC2. The ingenuity of mod communities never ceases to amaze me.

Kushan4327d ago

You missed out, but keep an eye on this - http://www.amazon.com/Squar...

This was like $7.49 I think (or it might have been $15), but it contained JC2 as well as a few other great games worth having - all but one of which was activatable on steam (Tomb Raider Underworld was not). Not quite $5 for JC2, but not far off all things considered.

STONEY44327d ago

It's been at $2.50 on Amazon before. The lowest Steam has had it was $3.75 I think. It'll definitely go on sale though.

beerkeg4328d ago

Still waiting for it to kick off, I was hoping for it to have started already :(

Steam’s Refund Policy Change Won’t Affect You Unless You’re A Lowlife

Steam is changing its refund policy, but you probably won’t be affected

thorstein16d ago

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii16d ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo16d ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows9016d ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

Michiel198916d ago

Not sure why you're getting agrees. an awful lot of console gamers are overemotional twinks ready to go to war over a plastic box, I'll take being a pc gamer then.

Speaking about overgeneralizing much.

Nooderus15d ago

"X" type of gamer conversations are cringe

qalpha16d ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno16d ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan16d ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno16d ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life198116d ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

SegaSaturn66916d ago

I never liked refunding anything. Even if a film is bad, i dont want my money back. Sometimes things just aren't for me, and it's not the creator's fault necessarily.

Gaming4Life198115d ago

I feel you and i have never walked out on a bad movie cause I payed my money. I also don't refund games cause I'm a gamer and I know what to buy lol. I think having a digital refund is great.
