Would be foolish to show case new hardware since MS still have Halo 4 to promote

Nitrowolf24425d ago

That's what I'm thinking. Both MS and Sony I'm betting will have something by next year or 2014. I think MS is gonna focus a lot on Halo 4 and Kinect this year and try to have one last huge push on the 360before they move on.

Muffins12234425d ago

not maybe...yes.Think about it.No good future launch exclusive game for the 360 right now but halo.

sikbeta4425d ago

Halo 4 Xbox 3 believe!

:P

tehpees34425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

I disagree. Microsoft at least sound to be rolling ahead with their new Xbox. They shouldn't let Nintendo take the stage like that especially since they are likely targeting core gamers.

E3 will most definitely be eating out of Nintendo's hand now. Provided they don't screw up price that is.

morganfell4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

Where is EvilDead360 in this thread. He mist have seen it. Why is he not composing a wall of text concerning this being fake news from MS and they will still surprise us all.

http://n4g.com/news/930677/...

There are plenty like that. Over and over again.

I have said repeatedly, REPEATEDLY there would be no new hardware from MS or Sony this year. MS will not release new hardware in the same year or even announce in the same year thier flagship title, HALO 4 - a game I am greatly anticipating, is launching on the 360.

And to those persons going down the dual platform in the same year launch and believed against all common sense that MS would let you purchase HALO 4 on the 360 and then tell you that you paid for the last gen version, time to swallow the red pill.

BlindGuardian4425d ago

maybe not "shown" but it might be mentioned, and then properly shown the following year when it's near its release

gamingdroid4425d ago

Since the Xbox 360 platform is still going strong it does seem a little premature, but then again there is always early next year to build up hype for the following Fall. At least that is what I'm hoping for as I'm ready!

glennco4424d ago

i wouldn't say "going strong" in regards to performance, just sales. i care about performance, i don't have a stake in the sales... the damn thing has sold enough to warrant a successor so bring it on already. i'm tired of playing BF3 with only 24 players but have no desire to get a PC just for 1 game.

gamingdroid4424d ago

... and there is nothing wrong with it's performance relative to it's peers?

I have an indirect stake in sales, in that if the product does well, MS will support it better. As it stands, MS has re-invented the dashboard, Xbox Live and a host of other things already. This isn't likely something a company would do without significant profits.

That said, if you care about performance (and I assume hardware) and not sales then PC is the platform for you. It seems to have both!

xtreampro4425d ago

"Would be foolish to show case new hardware since MS still have Halo 4 to promote"

That's assuming the Xbox 3 won't be B.C and will launch as soon as it's announced and all existing 360 owners will be forced to buy a $400 Xbox 3 on day 1 and all their 360's magically disappear making all of them unable to play Halo 4.

Which is obviously absurd.

How gullible can people be on this site? It's going to be shown this year, and if not then MS has a nonsensical business plan that should be laughed at.

If Sony doesn't show anything then "lulz" on them too

Plagasx4424d ago

You really think MS is going to survive the rest of the year with just Halo 4 and some shitty Kinect titles?

NYC_Gamer4424d ago (Edited 4424d ago )

360 has been doing fine with the limited amount of exclusives.MS will promote Halo 4/Forza and announce some new xbl features/dlc deals.some type of price drop on the 250 gb with kinect bundle is more expected in my opinion instead of new hardware.

Fishy Fingers4425d ago

If they dont, and nor do Sony, they're gifting Nintendo a good start with the Wii U.

turokgames4425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

Which in turn benefits Sony and Microsoft. Competition helps them improve the next-gen products.
@below: very true.

Fishy Fingers4425d ago

That's a stretch, hardware wise, I imagine both MS and Sony have that all but buttoned up, they have to have preliminary specs at the very least to provide to developers.

OC_MurphysLaw4425d ago

@Fishy Fingers preliminary hardware specs are hardly final specs. Think back to the Xbox 360 and how late in the game they decided to go with 512mb of Ram vs 256mb. I could easly see them deciding after GDC to respec some of what they have preliminarily mapped out... Development can certainly still continue for games with a base set of specs as a road map.

If this really does hold true...and who knows if its truth or just a ruse, MS could be taking the time to redesign some aspect of what they had planned. Could be a smart move, its just really hard to say at this point.

Fishy Fingers4425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

Perhaps, but I think that story is thrown around a bit too easily, exactly when in the 360s development did Epic come in with that?

Like you said, it's hard to say either way, but it's looking like several 3rd parties have dev kits, Epic recently demoed UE4 on different 'devices', who knows what stage their at, but my guess is they're further along than they'd have us believe.

DA_SHREDDER4425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

Indeed, if done correctly I will be buying all my third party games on it.

Indeed Poke. That would be an automatic win for Nintendo. Especially before Christmas, it'll be selling out.

dikturbo4425d ago

I would hardly consider the WiiU a headstart platform. IMHO I don't believe this 'Leapfrog' tablet offers the gaming community anything.

Drekken4425d ago

But really, its not like Wii-U is the jump that 360 and PS3 owners are looking for. It might be a tad bit more powerful than current HD consoles, but its not enough to get my money. No one has solidified third party support will be as strong as it is for MS and Sony...

Plus, remember past gen Nintendo games... Mortal Combat for example how G rated they made them make it. I want a console that supports Blood & Guts.

And the controllers...

gamingdroid4425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

If MS doesn't release a console next year, it might look like Nintendo has a huge advantage with the Wii U as I think the market is ready for a "reasonably" priced next-generation console.

I'm ready for it, but uncertain if I'm willing to be an early adopter simply because Nintendo has proven to be utterly cr@ptastic at online strategies considering the current state of their online platform and Friend Codes!

Online gaming has turned out to be hugely important to me and I don't generally play Mario and Zelda games.

iamnsuperman4425d ago

I think it is up to Nintendo to take the advantage because if they do not its little to no advantage at all. The third parties will be like the 360 and PS3 versions anyway so its up to Nintendo to either secure exclusives or more likely to take advantage of (rumoured) improved specs.

koston36474425d ago

......if they were going to reveal something do you really think they'd tell us?

Fishy Fingers4425d ago (Edited 4425d ago )

Obviously not, but that's when the standard PR line comes into play.. "MS do not comment on blah blah". It's unusual for them to flat out 'lie'.

Maybe well see some next-gen 'software', but no hardware.

Domer254425d ago

unbelievable............:(

Pokemon_Master4425d ago

Then nintendo kind of wins E3 by default

I mean imagine if they announce asassins creed 3, gta V, darksiders 2, resident evil 6 as launch titles along with pikmin 3 and yoshis story...........

And then you have big 3ds announcements, and then you have smash bros.......

check mate on that event

OC_MurphysLaw4425d ago

Could it also be that MS decided to hold off as they learned some of the final specs for WiiU and don't see it being crazy better than the 360 performance wise? I mean if they feel there is no longer a rush to come to market then why not hold off another year and really flesh out something that hits a homerun?

Pokemon_Master4425d ago

No offense but I dont believe that for a second.

Whats more likely is they decided to hold off after they realized they would probably get pwned in terms of news coverage to whatever nintendo is planning......

thats what happened last year

GuyManDude4424d ago

This. I'm still baffled that Nintendo hasn't realized this will be last gen all over again in terms of third party support. Devs are "excited to develop and experiment with the hardware". But when the PS4/Xbox? come out and completely dwarf Nintendo's WiiU from a technical capability standpoint, devs will get bored of WiiU's "last gen" graphics and leave it by the wayside.

And even if the devs do support it as strongly as the PS4/Xbox?, which console do you think the COD/Madden/Skyrim type of gamers will buy? The one with inferior graphics and a giant screen controller? Or the normal one with high-end PC graphics?

The WiiU will sell (if priced right), but not to people who buy software. It's 2006 all over again.

Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX

This could be fun as they make great tables. Go big or go extinct. Prime your senses for a neural handshake and step into the cockpit of a Jaeger. It is on you to cancel the apocalypse when Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX on May 16.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies20h ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken16h ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing691d 7h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker1d 7h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo1d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing691d 7h ago (Edited 1d 7h ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt19h ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken16h ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos1d 13h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto1d 12h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881d 12h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies1d 2h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
