8-Year-Old Wins MvC3 Match at EVO, Standing Ovation

GR: The video starts off pretty slow, but in the second match this 8-year-old kid smashes his opponent.

He lost because Deadpool basically suicided.

I mean people were booing Chris G for winning a match against Noah.

The Mike Ross match, where a player blew himself up playing Deadpool, was a sign of a person being caught up in the action not realizing that Deadpool has that gag move in there, it didn't do it accidnetly.

And people were booing Chris G cause come on, you have to cheer for the kid and boo on anyone beating on the kid.

But yeah, the kid is talented. Saying anything less diminishes everything he did because you suck at game.

This is EVO, if he wasn't playing for "real" than he has done himself and this kid a dishonor. Noah has beat top community players before so I am not going to downplay his victory at this grand event. If Flush didn't take this serious than its his loss, I don't care if your 8 or 80, if we're at a tournament I don't wanna lose and you're age will not determine If I take you serious or not.

I don't mean to sound like a douche and to take an 8yr old's glory, but I'm more than positive that his age helped him throughout the tournament. I don't consider myself one of the best players in the world, or even tournament quality, but I know for a fact that I could put up a better show than what was shown here.

The kid has skill, but he's not all that he's being made out to be.

Either way, I'm happy for the kid.

I don't know about MvC games, but I once played a match of Super Street Fighter 4 against an experienced friend and I beat him just by violently smashing the buttons as fast as I could. I didn't even know what I was pressing but I managed some special moves very quickly.

That just tells me that with some fighting games it's not really about skill or timing it's just about button mashing.

In this specific video, I could tell that the kid wasn't mashing buttons. What WAS displayed however, is that the kid only knew basic combos.

He won, but I don't think it was purely on skill.

No, I'm not. I forget to mention that I had never played Street Figther 4 before and suck at fighting games in general. My friend was very experienced in the game and series and had been playing it for about a year. He's also good at Mortal Kombat. The Point is, he's a much better player than me but I still beat him just by mashing buttons whereas he knew all the moves including Haidouken.

This backs my original claim that some fighting games don't require skill.

If the game is a test of skill, then why was a noob like myself able to beat an experienced player who was definitely trying his hardest against me?

Your friend may have played for a year but he must be terrible. Nobody could beat a decent player from button mashing on streetfighter 4. "he knew all the moves including haidouken" well, if your good you'll be doing alot more than that you wouldnt even get a move in.

Are you kidding, Bluffing is used in Streetfighter loads.... walking towards a downed character to make it look like your going for a grab ect. there are loads of bluffing tactics. You have no idea what your talking about.

What you were thinking of, IF you knew about poker, was probability. Probability is about factoring your percentage of getting the cards you need or the cards you avoid.

I tried playing this game but I suck badly at it. Too me it's just another button smashing fighting game. Also if you plan to buy MvC soon I suggest you wait for the Super Ultra Marvel VS Capcom Special Final Complete Arcade Edition.
