Game Informer - A few weeks ago, we asked the Overblood/Replay Facebook community what they'd like to see for a Replay. We let them organize the poll and vote among themselves, and the winner was the fondly-remembered Eternal Darkness for Gamecube.
HPP's Josh crafts an unholy list of the Top 8 Spooky Games In Need a Sequel That Originated on Nintendo Platforms. From old to new, a gory list to dream about.
The title says the criteria was explicitly written to mention Eternal Darkness. I am happy to see House of the Dead: OVERKILL on here. With the rise of Grindhouse themes in the 2010s, (ie WET), this was one that was both entertaining and camp funny.
Would be nice to see a new Zombie game set in the UK again, some of the landmarks, old architecture and the like really fits in well with the genre.
It's 2019, and H.P. Lovecraft has won. Cosmic horror, alien gods, and mind-breaking revelations of forbidden knowledge are no longer obscure tropes of weird fiction: they have come to dominate how horror is presented in video games.
But horror is much bigger than Lovecraft. And games would be better off if they focused on different sorts of horror for a while.
Do we have a lot of good Lovecraft games lately? If not, then there is no reason to not have more.
Lovecraftian horror is a genre sorely lacking in today's games. Thankfully, a few developers have tackled the fiction of Lovecraft to great success.
not really my cup of tea. bunch of fish people isn't interesting to me. much rather think farther outside of the box and more into fantasy.
Bloodborne was awesome. I love the darker and more Lovecraftian theme there(than other souls games). I would say thats what made it a much more enjoyable experience than Dark Souls 3 for me.
I recently played call of Cthulhu and sinking city and both were pretty good. The mythos is pretty awesome and I would like to see a game on a grander scale with the ancient ones and such. The different godlike beings are what I find interesting.
