Guacamelee! PlayStation 3, Vita Platformer References Nintendo, Microsoft and More

"You wouldn't expect an indie platformer like Guacamelee, recently released for the PlayStation Vita and PS3, from a developer like DrinkBox Studios, to have as many Nintendo references as it does. But not just Nintendo - the game actually pays homage to several classic franchises like Grim Fandango, Metroid, Castlevania and much more."

Some pretty good references there. Like the poster artwork.

Having said that, GamingBolt, seriously, AJAX those pages or something. It's not like I don't already use adblock because of multi-page tactics you keep using on your sites as it is. Now, you're just wasting everyone's time.

Nintendo sure knows how to inspire THEM . . .

Yes because platform games never existed before Nintendo or Microsoft. I swear to god, Sony can never win.

Can this game not just be its own game?

They make Soul Sacrifice something that potentially almost looks like more fun than Monster Hunter and isn't the same other than hunting monsters which tons of game do, everyone calls it a clone.

Now we get this awesome platformer that is doing its own thing and here we have several articles either saying they took all their ideas from Nintendo.. and this crap. Everyone in the fucking world works off each others ideas.. Does it mean they were taken? No.. We are incapable of learning about what is around us without nothing to be around.

When Nicola Tesla improved electricity did every idiot just call him a Benjiman Franklin clone? Good lord, no one can make anything today I guess anymore. I didn't know that these titles all owned and copyright the genre..

I mean at this point in society literally everything has been made, we are rarely going to see fresh new ideas and IP's simply because as time goes by everyone will have already had done that at some point.. So what is the point of even bringing up references unless this game is parody which it isn't..

I know this article wasn't trying to start shit but just the fact they even had to bring this up annoyed me. People only do this crap with Sony games making it even more unbearable.

Literally only Sony games, you rarely ever see anyone else referencing people using ideas in games like this on any other system when the same could be done with just about literally any game at all even Nintendo's and Microsoft's oldest games.

I mean that is how the human brain works, it gathers information and builds its own ideas upon that. Pretty simple to understand.

Theres also a reference to el pollo diablo from The Return to Monkey Island.

@bullymangLer

But the game is still great and its exclusive to the PS3 and the Vita.

Deal with it.

Hollow Knight is really good. GreenPath was my favorite area of the game.

Guacamelee 1 was also good. I got to check out G2.

Hollow Knight is the best Metroidvania since Symphony of the night.

I highly recommend TimeSpinner. It's on everything now but I played and platinum'd it on PS4. Excellent classic style MV with a cool 'time' element and hidden secrets, bosses, multiple ending/outcomes, etc. 9/10 from me.

Axiom Verge was the Metroidvania I enjoyed the most this gen.

I’m biased but for me it’s Bloostained: Ritual of the night.
