Siliconera: "The rumors are true, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City developer Slant Six was working on a Star Wars game back in 2010. Lucasarts hired Slant Six to make Star Wars Battlefront Online for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."
It seems that absolutely nothing can escape the internet eye of Superannuation, who is back yet again with a pair of interesting pieces of information, with the first focusing solely on Visceral Games, who have been busy lately with the Dead Space franchise and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. - PSLS
Out of all the developers that have went down over the years...how the hell is Slant Six still around
It probably would have been overshadowed by Killzone Mercenary if it were to launch this year.
Slant Six Games initiates temporary layoffs to trim operating costs, hopes to rehire all affected developers.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Galactic Reign developer Slant Six Games has initiated a round of temporary layoffs, the company has confirmed to GamesIndustry International. The studio hopes to rehire all affected staffers once new projects or funding has been secured
It's sad when these things happen, but Raccoon City was a pile of crap. And I mean in every facet of the game, from the gameplay, animation, to the story, to the sound, etc. None of these guys are getting away with blaming that terrible game on another team member. So these guys are not gonna have an easy time finding work if their potential new employers play RE: ORC. They should leave that out of the resume.
I don't like when studios lay off their developers, and I feel bad for these people who are now out of a job. But at the same time, Slant Six is fucking horrible. They butchered Socom and they butchered Resident Evil. They have zero talent, so I'm really not surprised to see this.
I agree that they did a number on Socom but not as bad as Zipper Interactive. Zipper turned S4 into an abomination. XP, Snap to Cover, Small maps etc.
Some games are decent enough that they receive a yearly sequel; Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, and Activision’s Call of Duty franchise to name a couple. Other games are just as good yet for whatever reason, due to underwhelming sales or internal development issues, fans might have to wait years, if ever to get a follow-up to a beloved game.
Despite being the best-selling Star Wars game of all time, Star Wars: Battlefront has yet to have a next-generation sequel. Isn't it worthy?
I have never understood the hype battlefront gets. I loved the original, but it gets boring easy. To boot, it didn't even really have a story.
Suppose I am in the minority when I say it is average. Nonetheless, I hope they do make a 'sequel' so people will finally stfu lol.
Ah man....sad face
Star Wars : Confrontation
