The Super Mario series is not known for its scary moments, but throughout its long and rich history, little aspects of the games have left us with haunting and disturbing memories that are too hard to forget. Today is the perfect day to look back and to remind ourselves that the Mario series is not always as innocent as it looks.
Cultured Vultures: Put on your freshest dungarees and chow down on the ripest mushroom as we reel off the best Mario games ever made to celebrate Mar10 Day.
My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.
Releasing the Nintendo Switch 2 with a Super Mario 64 remake would be the perfect way to unleash the console to the world.
If they ever did I hope they would add onto it, there's so much you could do with Princess Peach's castle alone
Each level is pretty small today in the original game, I don't like huge levels but I think they could be at least 2x bigger, or close to it and more of them, with more things to do.
They could do a mix of having open levels and more linear ones like in 3D World or Land, I doubt they will do that but it would make a change.
I'd prefer a Oydessey 2 or Galaxy 3. Besides the DS
game was a Mario 64 remake complete with more playable characters, stages, bosses and muti player content.
Yes! Let's release an almost 30 year old game to kick off the next generation for Nintendo...
I'm over re-releases...FEED ME NEW MARIO!
If all the world is a stage, then Mario is adept at playing all the roles – something Miyamoto was very keen to tell us.
3 had a good balance of difficulty before crybabies stepped in and cried about the difficulty of SMW, which is why the game was made easier before release. Would also explain why most other games have been easier except for special worlds etc.. or ones you unlock after you beat the main game.
Isn't the reason we got a Doki Doki Panic sprite swap because Lost Levels was originally deemed too difficult?
That freaking mask from SMB2 used to scare the shit out of me as a kid...
Fucking piano in Super Mario 64. Like the article said I just wanted that red coin and had no idea that it would start chasing me down with it's teeth.
Let's not forget the Eagle Head in Super Mario Bros 2, which served as a portal to end all the levels until near the end of the game, where it became alive and went after you. That scared me as a kid.
