Do you rely on reviews to make your video game purchases? Are you suffering from Review-itis?

So a lot of games came out lately…a lot of good games at that — but I was curious as to what percentage of those games were purchased on the merit of the review scores associated with it.

Nah. Even if Super Mario Galaxy averaged a perfect 10 on Metacritic..I KNOW that its not the type of game I'd be interested in.

I get games if I am interested in them or like the series or genre. I didnt like oblivion of Fallout 3 so I know I won't I like Skyrim and Fallout NV. I liked uncharted 2 so I knew I would like Uncharted 3

to a certain exstent, but a review is only one persons opinion so I will usually rent if I'm not sure about the game.

I don't literary RELY on them. Reviews only make a huge impact in my decision if I'm interested in getting a game that I'm not too sure about getting. L.A Noire for instance was a game that I was interested in, but after reading a several reviews I ultimately decided not to get it. On the flip side, the reviews for Batman Arkham City made me purchase the game.

Games like Uncharted 3, GTA5, Final Fantasy versus 13, and The Last Guardian are games that I got/will get day one regardless of reviews because I either like the series or respect the developers making the game.

I'm all for making my own decisions but at $60 a game, my making my own decision can be a costly mistake.
I learned this the hard way when I decided to ignore reviews and purchase DBZ Raging Blast 2 and Spider-man 3. I regret doing that.
