That Crystal Bearers score makes me sad. I hope that the game isn't as bad as the review makes it out to be. Been looking forward to this game for a few years now.

Saaking5267d ago

Great scores overall

AC2- 9.5
GOW Collection- 9.5
LBP PSP- 8.5
NSMB- 9.25

ablecain5267d ago

Yeah, I had really high hopes for Crystal Bearers. I wonder what they're complaints are?

DelbertGrady5267d ago

Some good scores but I don't agree with their score for The Saboteur. That game is a 7 at best.

Kamikaze1355267d ago

The complaints were that it was too lighthearted and too different from past Crystal Chronicles games.

SpoonyRedMage5267d ago

So in other words they complained for ths sake of complaining?

Too lighthearted? Well that's a major draw of the game, a lot of people don't like the depressing melodrama that we've seen from FFXIII. What's wrong with having a FUN game?

And different from the other Crystal Chronicles games? What's wrong with being different?

If those are really the complaints then shame on them.

hatchimatchi5267d ago

it seems like you're the one complaining for the sake of complaining.

Final Fantasy 13 isn't out, so i don't know where you get these "complaints" of it being a depressing melodrama, and the crystal bearers isn't out yet either. Maybe you should wait and play the game(s) before you call foul on a review by someone who has played the game.

Cheeseknight285267d ago (Edited 5267d ago )

No offense Spoony, but I wish more people would follow hatchimatchi mentality. Seems like 90% of this site is judgmental of a review before getting their hands on the game (See Gametrailer's UC2 review).

Back on topic, I really had high hopes for Crystal Bearers and I'll still read more reviews first, especially because I've never been a fan of Game Informers reviews. The magazine has great info, but their review team is just too haphazard, and seems to alternate between overrating (Resident Evil 5) and underrating (Rune Factory Frontier) games.

SpoonyRedMage5267d ago (Edited 5267d ago )

I said from what we've seen of FFXIII and lots of people have complained about the melodrama in the trailers, it's pretty easy to see it.

Plus this was what he had to say about the concept of the game.
"Concept - Put the final nail in the Crystal Chronicles coffin [I Hope]"

So it's pretty obvious he had a pre-existing bias against the Crystal Chronicles games, even though he apparently complained about it being different from them.

Plus the reviewer complained about the controls, which are point and click... doesn't get any simpler, said the graphics were bad(which I know is a lie because I've seen gameplay footage), complained about the writing(which has been praised, including in Famitsu's review) and said their was low replayablity, which is a lie considering there's a new game plus and the ability to replay all the minigames and people that HAVE played the game(such as AP from RPGsite.net) have said that there's a lot of replayability.

Game Informer are already notorious for being anti-wii as well.

reintype5267d ago

What's even worse is that it scored lower than the Over Price Turd, otherwise known as TONY HAWK: RIDE.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather play CRYSTAL BEARERS than play TONY HAWK: RIDE or YOUR SHAPE even if it that one includes a Nudie pack.

raztad5267d ago

The Saboteur looks interesting. It's averaging 7/10 on several metarankings. A 7/10 score is not that bad. It could make for a decent purchase when it drops in price to less than $40 range.

SH:SM is that bad? I was planning to buy the game but now I'm having second thoughts.. :(

ReservoirDog3165267d ago

I know, it looked good and had a few good reviews but the rest have been lacklusters. Makes me wonder.

Hope it turns out good when I buy it.

Valay5267d ago

I've seen a lot of good scores for Shattered Memories from other outlets. I wouldn't necessarily believe Game Informer's review.

Duraji5267d ago

I've played and beaten the game. It's seriously one of the best games I've played this year. As long as you're willing to accept some major changes to the Silent Hill gameplay formula, it DEFINITELY delivers the scares and the psychological thrills... especially since it really is nothing like the original game at all...

ajay_solidsnake5267d ago

GAMEINFORMER sure had SHATTERED MEMORIES OF SILENT HILL.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast3d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk3d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast3d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk3d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac3d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk3d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
