GameFocus writes: "Rarely have gamers been given a chance to play such a niche title in this day and age where casual gaming is the norm and those who grew up playing video games where skill, dedication and no internet to search for cheats or walkthroughs were around to help could defeat the hardest games and say with pride I am the best. Now days you have to take every boast with a big grain of salt but pucker up girls and boys because even with helpful videos and walkthroughs this is a game which will punish the weak and leave many a gamer in tears."
With so many PS5 exclusives to choose from, it can be a little overwhelming to pick which one to play. This is especially true for a new PlayStation gamer who has yet to experience the wonder of PlayStation-exclusive storytelling. So, here's KnowTechie's take on the best PS5 exclusives in 2024 and beyond
PlayStation is killing it with the exclusives this year. Exclusive wise, what has xbox released this year?
Returnal, Astro Bot, and Ratchet made having it since day one worth it.
GT7 free updates and Spiderman 2 and others at 60fps have made this last year more than okay.
But yeah, it’s been dry lately. BG3 and third party have made great filler, but we ready for that SOCOM or Killzone announcement and some more 1st party goodness. Crossing fingers for Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement this summer.
Didn’t know Helldivers was exclusive! Wtf is going on at Xbox that they can’t get these games, series s strikes again.
Looks like they are on par with the previous gens. Solid games all around. Interestingly enough, we can't say they released a bad game yet this gen. Unlike the Quiet Man dustup.
I actually do not mind if Marathon releases on multiple platforms . I just wish that Marathon has a dedicated single player campaign.
You might not be able to believe this, but Dark Souls is a pretty tricky game on the PlayStation 3.
Soulsborne games are infamously difficult. But why has that difficulty been the secret sauce to success for many of these titles in the genre?
Rewarded effort feels good.
Starting out bad at something and getting better with practice makes accomplishments meaningful.
Getting through these games feels like a journey of self improvement, lol.
You only have yourself to blame if things go poorly, but in a similar way overcoming challenge is similarly a function of your own growth.
I think because the games are fair. Gamers can tell that it’s due to their own abilities and not some BS.
I've always loved the sense of adventure and wonder in these games. There's no hand holding, there are surprises and traps everywhere and you have to figure out what some items do. Beating a heide knight was like an accomplishment for me the first time and it felt good to earn that sword he dropped. I've spent hundreds of hours in souls games ever since Kings Field on PS1. The lore is incredible and it makes you think about the history of the world you're in. I can't wait for Shadow of the Erdtree.
It's the recipe of fair difficulty, presentation, boss battles and lore that attract me to these games. The From Souls games have always had a nebulous quality to them that I find fascinating. Demystifying them is a big part of the fun.
I think its the atmosphere and gameplay. Each of these games unique ways to play and unique settings/atmospheres that are in a league of its own.
Another DAY Another AAA exclusive for PS3.
Bring it.
PS3 gets this gem while 360 owners get Ninjablade LOL
And the best RPG of 2009 goes to... DEMON's SOULS!!
And people still complain about there being no RPGs on PS3. GOSH!!
Shame I will have to get this from ebay.uk, but oh well...
It came from nowhere, with virtually no hype/exposure and turned out to become one of the top 3 games i've played this gen(other 2 being MGS4 & KZ2).
I'm guessing a lot of people will be surprised by how much replayability and content it has. Most people will easily take 45-55 hrs for their 1st play through and you will be stunned by the new difficulty level of New Game . This game is unforgiving but that's one of its main appeal. You learn from your mistakes the hard way, which is the fastest way to get better.
This game has a fantastic atmosphere, and the believe it or not, the difficulty actually augments the experience. When was the last time you fear facing a game's boss? Even the normal mobs will instill fear in you when you first face them. The punishment system only makes the eventual victory so much sweeter and rewarding. And the awe-inspiring bosses are the highlights of Demon's Souls. All the boss battles are very inspired and combined with the deep gameplay of DS, it combines to give an awesome experience.
Sorry for ranting on :P but really...if you are sick of playing the same type of games over and over again, if you are up for the challenge and is ready for a fresh experience, you will NOT regret getting Demon's Souls.
