Omigod that looks so tacky. In comparison, the Beatles title is handled very tastefully. I do wish they'd provided an option to dress up the Beatles in authentic "Apple Boutique" clothes of the period. Carnaby Street, baby!
Party mode (drop in/drop out at will) is the most significant addition to GH. Three-part harmonies (and performance mode, dreamscapes, "Beatle Beats" trainer, etc.) in TBRB is a much bigger innovation, in my opinion. With that said, my 6-year-old likes the Beginner mode better in GH, for what it's worth.
I'd love it if EA published a list of journalists who actually did cash the checks. That would be a classic "deal with the devil."
The effect I was seeing was apparently related to my flaky internet connection. The ticker is back to its old annoying self. The technique described above does NOT work. Sorry, N4G'ers!
You can find the What's New on/off setting under Settings > System settings > Display What's New. Interestingly, there's a bug in the code that may require you to set it ON, logout, and then login again, set it to OFF, and then log out/in again to get it to work properly. I had to do that on my US account. (It worked correctly in my Japan account.)
why not give the dynamic theme for High Velocity Bowling (etc.) as a bonus when you buy the game? That way, you wouldn't look so #$@% greedy, but you'd make EVEN MORE MONEY.
This nickel and diming is starting to get to me.
...but certainly won't be by me. I'm getting tired of being nickled and dimed for worthless content, like this crappy sounding reality TV show. I smiled at the "face palm" comment on the PSlifestyle page on which this is mentioned.
I just figured out how to turn off that annoying "What's New" scroller -- the option is there in System Settings. I'm glad it's optional!
The Yazuka 3 demo (from the Japanese store) freezes everytime on the "LOADING" screen just after the introductory cutscene. (60GB launch model here.) If you can get it to continue past that first cutscene, Japanese store visitors would like to know how!
Ugh. That's a terrible-sounding "Groupwide branding message."
..but you have to admit, the calves on that person's leg look terrible. And the foreground (pavement) texture is blurry and pixelated. I'll probably still get it, although I am a bit unimpressed by these shots.
The first thing my wife said was "Oh, I don't like those sparkles -- they look tacky." As sparkles usually do. The new startup sound is a little less classy, as well. And DAMN I hate that scrolling thing in the upper right. You used to be able to turn it off. I'm not mad about all the HUGE What's New area, either. Overall, it cheapens the once-classier PS3 experience, IMO.
Even the picture accompanying the article disproves the claim that "there is no actual deformation of the cars taking place." FAIL. And comparing it to Burnout 3? Hahahaha!
Real "wheel falling off, car is crippled" damage, like that in TOCA, can be frustrating. With that said, I've grown to dislike the bumper-car physics in GT. But the pure gorgeousness keeps me coming back.
Gamespy's inability to take a decent photo of a review unit makes them look like amateurs. And their review is basically a childish rant. Good luck getting early access to the next big Sony release, guys!

Land of the Giants FTW!
That looks like it didn't make the transition to the slim, either.
So missing on the slim, relative to the 60-gig "classic" model:
- Other OS option
- Card reader (easy to add)
- 2 more USB ports (easy to add)
- SACD audio
- Backwards compatibility
On the positive side, Slim has features that were missing from the 60:
- Lower power req.
- Smaller
- Dualshock 3
It's a shame that the new case...
is #45, at least on Xbox.
the gameplay was highly repetitive and the graphics sucked. The demo really looked last-gen to me. Those repetitive sliding and jumping movements got old pretty quick, at least for me.
