The situation reminds me of when Bethesda sued "Prey for the Gods" devs because it hat "Prey" in it, and they were about to release Prey. Or when Candy Crush tried to trademark the word "Candy".
All the people responsible for these decisions/lawsuits are despicable monsters. You should be imposed a 10 million $ fine without warnings (and kicked in the shins) for even ATTEMPTING to do something like this.
But this situation is...
GoW Horde Mode itself was a copycat. "Survive enemy waves" gameplay modes are almost as old as video games themselves
There will come a time when we'll all have to be honest with ourselves and admit the cold hard truth: Knack wasn't good and it only sold because it was a launch title
Neither staying faithful or straying from it has ever worked for game movies, because game movies tend to be managed by dudebros such as Jordan here and the marketing people will always insist to make it extra-bad because they -with their tiny litttle minds- believe it'll give the movie wider appeal
In the end, it's all about making a good movie, regardless of if it's faithful or not
meh
Here comes my controversial opinion:
I don't think staying faithful to the source material is always a good thing.
Sometimes, what worked in a game won't necessarily work in a movie. There's a certain amount of cheesiness that feels just fine in a game, but would feel just ridiculous in a movie. And sometimes a story that was meant to be told over 8-12 hours won't necessarily be a good fit for a 2 hour movie (Case in point: the netflix Death Note mo...
My biggest problem with Knack is that the character's design is very unappealing due to pretty much just being a technical showcase for the PS4 (and not such an impressive one either)
I think photorealism is boring in many cases. For a game like Zelda, I'm in favor of stylized all the way.
You just have to look at the guy who recreates OOT in UE4 to realize that realism doesn't necessarily improve a game's visuals
It's not the hardware's fault. 3D models need to look like this in order for the toon shader to give good results. You need smooth low-detail surfaces, otherwise you're gonna get lots of shadow artifacts and ambient occlusion ugliness
well it's 1000x better than all those cosplay articles.
I actually think this is pretty cool. It reminds me of all the special easter-eggy stuff that people were discovering in Shadow of the Colossus back in the days
why anyone would expect a campaign mode in PUBG is beyond me. It's like asking for a campaign in Overwatch/CSGO
I think it doesn't look good. The realistic/shiny/overly post-processed style doesn't fit the game at all
@Krysis

The game had its peak player count in january. Looks like it's headed towards another sub-peak right now (it seems to have a little influx of players every few months), but you can clearly see from the chart that it's not gonna jump from 60k player to 600k players (CSGO numbers) anytime soon. It has reached a relative plateau in terms of players ever since jan 2...
No. Doesn't really matter if the game itself is great or not; the hype just isn't there and very few people actually play it. Its popularity is only going to decrease from now on. Or at the very least, it won't magically grow 10x and suddenly match CSGO's ccu
It does look pretty good. It gives off the impression of being a game that aspires to reach AAA quality but is made by a relatively small non-AAA team that haven't become complete sellouts yet and still care about making something unique.
Some parts of it look a bit rough on the edges (animation clipping through things, etc...) but that's fine
well yeah but that's like saying Halo 3 is similar to Halo 1. It kinda goes without saying
The reason why so many games are said to be "just like Dark Souls" is that Dark/Demon Souls brought a completely baffling amount of highly original ideas and game mechanics when it came out:
- indirect online multiplayer features
- difficulty that is almost a story element
- its own signature dark vibe and style of storytelling
- invasions
- death as a game mechanic
- 3D melee combat that doesn't suck
- designing the...
Let's be honest here: it looks a bit garbage-esque
I feel like this is way too subjective and ultimately irrelevant to bother debating about it.
IdTech6 seems to have been made very very specifically for Doom. Even the new Quake Champions uses IdTech5
Doom is probably the most optimized game on Earth currently so it's not that surprising
