Honestly, I think they are necessary. Or at least important enough that not having them is a huge financial risk. Games like HZD and Zelda have it easy because they were guaranteed successes. And Monster Hunter World is not AAA
But what's unnecessary is AAA games themselves. All the best games have been sub-AAA for at least the last 5 years
H1Z1 didn't inspire PUBG
DayZ inspired Arma BR mod (made by PlayerUnknown)
Then Arma BR mod inspired H1Z1 (PlayerUnknown was hired to work on it)
Then PlayerUnknown made BattleGrounds
60 fps must be the new 30 fps,
and 120 fps must be the new 60 fps
I don't really think adding players will make the concept better to be honest. We are much more in need of quality rather than quantity
Historically, games that sold themselves as "It's just like X, but BIGGER and with MORE STUFF" always ended up being total garbage in the end
guards, escort this man to the dungeons
Agreed. PUBG's creator mentionned DayZ as his main influence too
DayZ is my favorite survival game of all time, but it's also garbage at the same time.
It has the best ideas, but the worst implementation.
It's extremely "hardcore" and inaccessible to the masses, but also extremely fulfilling. You can spend 2 hours running in an empty field without seeing anyone, but when you do hear a gunshot in the distance, your heart is literally on the verge of explosion for the next 30 minutes. When you do kill s...
Petitions - one of the most unstoppable forces in human history
The 60 fps feels so NICE
Especially since the original was like barely 20 fps
I agree. Fortnite is way more polished but it's also boring. The base building also feels like a really superfluous mechanic that doesn't have its place in the battle royale mode
what a random article....
When will people understand that games like this wouldn't work well at all in VR? And I'm not just talking about technology; I'm talking conceptually.
The thing about VR games is that whenever you perceive acceleration that your body doesn't physically feel, it feels off. So forget about all games that have anything more than a minimal amount of character movement in VR. And this isn't something that higher resolutions or refresh rates can fix. You'd...
Wow... this looks like garbage.
15 fps, really? Plus I don't think the theme/setting has much appeal
@HRoach616
60fps isn't at all out of reach of consoles. It's just a matter of telling devs to stop making the stupid decision of aiming for 30.
A big part of the problem is that we're currently in the typical sort of tribalistic situation where a group of fanatic people keep blindly defending bad things (like 30 fps) ONLY because it's a characteristic that has been attributed to their group (console games) over time, and they want to pretend it'...
30 fps is nowhere near acceptable. I will never understand how people can play games like this without getting a headache
60 should be considered rock-bottom minimum and 120/144 should be considered the standard
It's easy, devs; just sacrifice all the graphics until you reach at least 60fps and 1080p. It'll just make the whole game better. Fluidity and crispness are infinitely more important than shiny graphics
I really don't understand how anyone can have any opinion at all on this game's commercial appeal when we haven't even seen proper gameplay
@UCForce
Isn't that precisely what I just said?
I can sort-of understand it, though. He probably means he's not looking for hardcore purists and otakus who have very specific tastes in games. Basically he just means he's looking for well-balanced, multi-skilled and open-minded people.
He's looking for the kind of people who would encourage games like Splatoon and Snipperclips instead of games like Xenoblade Chronicles
I like DayZ more than PUBG, but I spent like 2500 hours in DayZ so it's time for something new.
I'll go back to DayZ once it leaves early access in 2024
They need to change their name. Robot Cache is the most unappealing name ever for a game platform
