With the exception of me and some other guy, the people that were preordering at the store actually wanted to keep the PS3 & didn't give a crap about eBay.
I, on the other hand do give a crap about eBay and will be using their services :)
I felt pretty happy for one of them though: This guy didn't even see it (PS3 preordering) on the net, he woke up, saw it on the news, and rushed out to the mall, and preordered... lucky guy.
Funny
There were 2 game stores in the mall. The big store said they're only preordering 10. I was the 11th guy to show up (5 min after the 10th dude!) so I went to the smaller store & scored #9 :).
The girl (nice Trini chick :D) REALLY wanted me to preorder a game too... so, I preordered Gears of War!
I'd rather have MK2.
Its 37, wow! I remember when it was 330, talk about slip 'n slide!
Not to shabby. It's a little easy to fall into the water though, so I had to stop playing lazy. I did noticed some slow down though (after the first rope at the pinball springs).
What are you talking about? There's no fan in that picture.
All of the HDTVs that I've seen that have DVI or VGA ports.
Upscaled DVDs aren't as clear as HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, but it makes your current DVD collection look much better.
@ THE TRUTH
This game can be done on the 360. But they'd have to rewrite the game engine because its designed around the Cell and RSX, not the 360's 6-threaded CPU or unified shader array of the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
Quote from page 5: "When we create a game, we absolutely focus on the platform it is designed around. Would we do one for 360, it would be a different game and a different engine"
Would Gears of War would look as good on th...
I'm not impressed by the graphics (no better than a 360), but it does look like a fun game.
Exclusive games are more likely to take advantage of the system's features/power than multi platform games
It would be nice if they put MK2 on the disc as well (its small enough), but they'd probably save that for Xbox Live Arcade :(
The PS3 is starting to look like a rush job now, similar to the 360 launch, but worse. If there's any more delays Sony's screwed.
Blu-Ray also uses MPEG2 for its HD video. It's an old and inefficient codec (commpression & quality wise) compared to VC-1 which is used by HD-DVD.
DMC4 on the 360 would be great (I'm waiting to see shat the PS3 REALLY has to offer besides HD movies, and a price drop). But I think the only way DMC4 will port to the 360 is if the PS3 flops.
Finally, some good news.
I expected it to look like the footage shown at E3, but I'm not surprised it didn't. Sony did say it was "IN-GAME" footage.
Just look at the screen shots Playah1 posted (post# 3). What looks better: the "IN-GAME" footage from E3(1st pic) or the current screen shots (2nd pic)?
Decompression only happens when reading data off the DVD. Where do you think all of that uncompressed data goes? It goes to the 512 MB of RAM. Where do you think the PS3s uncompressed data goes...? To the 256 MB of RAM. These machines run uncompressed game code.
Sony's been dishonnest too many times. They're just giving people 'hope' that the PS3 will be available so they won't buy a 360 or a Wii.
I'll believe it when (IF), Sony pulls it off.
If you camp out on the 16th, and the PS3 is released on the 17th, what do you do WHEN you have to pee?
Do you trust the others to hold your spot?
Where would you do it?
Will you bring antibacterial wipes/jel to clean your hands?
