God Of War is sexual content free because the developers didn't want sexual content in them.
"Appreciating the attention to detail has nothing to do with the extremely slow pacing."
It has a lot to do with slow pacing. Detail often means the game has to spend more time actually showing you those things, for example animating things that would be a quick menu press in some other game. Besides, it isn't just detail, it's making the player feel like they're in the game world. That means making it more believable, sometimes at the cost of fast gam...
He isn't talking about movement mechanics. he's talking about the game as a whole.
Great article. Some games are slower paced than others, and focus more on immersion and detail. As the author said, RDR2 requires more from the player. It's not necessarily the game you play when you want to have 30 minutes of fun after work. Same can be said about something like Kingdom Come Deliverance.
That doesn't mean they're worse games. It just means they're different, and honestly it's so nice to see Rockstar go down this path, because most games...
Exactly, I wish more people would realize this.
"reasonable pace without unnecessary "realities" creeping their way in and claiming to be gameplay. "
Unnecessary according to whom ? It's completely subjective, and varies from person to person. While you are criticizing RDR 2 for it's pacing and realism and detail, several others are enjoying it and praising it for those same reasons.
Games can have varying levels of pacing and downtime. Not all of them have to be 'fun...
It can be meticulously polished and still have some bugs.
Some people like it, some don't, that's it. It's 100% subjective.
"I'm actually surprised Rockstar was even allowed to make this game really. After GTA 5's success, I never expected them to go off in such a different direction."
" it's pretty obvious GTA has far more mainstream appeal while RDR 2 is a more mature game."
Good point, and can I just say that this is what makes me so confident in Rockstar. It shows that at the end of the day, the driving force for their game is their creative vision ab...
They're reviewing it and giving their opinion.
What kind of comment is this lol xD
Can't wait to see what they do with the PC version and the next gen console versions (assuming they do next gen versions like GTA 5)
Oh please, if any site doesn't give it a perfect score, you'll call it pretentious.
They recommend the game and have generally high praise for it.
@KyRo
And you can misrepresent it all you like.
There's women in a WW2 game, in a way that doesn't make sense, in a way that ruins the theme, and for what ? to be more progressive or something ? No one is pissed that Horizon Zero Dawn has a female protagonist, or that Ellie is the main protagonist in The Last Of Us 2. Why ? If it really was misogyny, why aren't the same people whining about every female character. Don't be intellectually d...
He's an incel because he doesn't like the direction they took the game in ? Am I an incel because I don't like it either.
I prefer realism and commitment to the theme over character customization in a Battlefield game.
Am I an incel ? :)
It's true though, you can tell EA are pushing the whole diversity thing just for the sake of diversity. Why else would they choose that cover image and have the default soldier classes as they were ? Is it because it was the most appropriate cover for the game ? Granted, the overall cover scheme for BF is a problem now anyway. It's the same generic cover again and again.
Diversity for the sake of diversity, while simultaneously harming the creative aspect of the ga...
" Don't make it a repetitive boring grind fest "
You say that as if it's so easy.
Ofcourse the developers don't want it to be boring. It's just really hard to have an online game like this without making it boring, considering that players will be playing for hundreds of hours.
He's right.
It's single player. You can have a female protagonist while not being historically inaccurate. Unless the SP campaign diversifies the general armed forces, I don't see the issue.
The problem is in multiplayer, where it's supposed to be WW2 but you see women (white, black, asian), running around in the armed forces, especially the german forces. It's just odd and funny. Here it directly conflicts with the WW2 theme. Whereas...
If they stop trying to go for the corridor shooter formula it could be. If they take clues from critically acclaimed FPS games which actually have depth, then it could be.
BF 3 and 4 campaigns suffer from the same problem as all modern military corridor shooter campaigns. They want you to take it seriously but nothing is built for immersion. It's all contrived situations and over simplified mechanics etc etc.
No game can ever be 100% perfect.
So it makes perfect sense. 10/10 signifies a masterpiece, but it doesn't mean that it won't have any flaws. It just means that those flaws aren't enough to take a point or half a point off the score.
