Wrong. That would be a loss for Sony.
A PC version released later would not be a significant loss for Sony at all, because most people who play these games will still play them on consoles.
What are you afraid of exactly ? Everyone buying a gaming PC instead of a PS5 ?
Console gamers will play mostly on console. Releasing a late PC version is fine. It is indeed a win for the vast majority of people. Sony should not listen to these people lol.
Maybe they thought it would, and now it isn't going to ?
Delays happen all the time. Making these high quality games is difficult and hard to predict.
Ignore any fanboys, this is a great move.
Hopefully MM's Dreams will follow some time soon.
Cannot get over how beautiful the visuals are, and yet somehow seems to stay so faithful to the atmosphere of the original.
Yeah.... that's not true though... unless you're talking about Cyberpunk on base consoles or something. SC is very bad in playability in many areas. Granted it also depends on your specs, but many things can straight up break very often.
@Tiqila
maybe some people just like it... try and imagine that scenario, and accept it. Otherwise you will constantly be at a loss to describe why it keeps getting more and more traction despite all the delays and funding model etc. World is not black and white.
Delayed, like everything else. Expect 2022 minimum. Yes, minimum.
It will come out for sure and it will be a very cool experience, that much I can guarantee. The expected timeline is just... depressing...
My thoughts exactly, but I will buy it only on day two, maybe day three, because I am disappointed that the new 4k Switch is only 60Hz and not 480Hz as any modern gamer will tell you is the minimum playable standard.
"The single player game Squadron 42 will have a launch date when backers are pleased with the quality of it.
until then backers get exclusive viewings of it."
This isn't quite true. They didn't say this anywhere. They're not showing anything until they are happy with it internally.
@BiofourceGun
This is incorrect.
Backers will not be receiving behind the curtains look at SQ42. Any footage and content that CIG release will be released publically for everyone.
Backers will able to play Star Citizen (the online component) and guage progress on certain aspects of the game (certain technical aspects, the flight and combat, FPS mechanics etc). That's what Chris meant. They planned on showing parts of SQ42 in a show ...
They're not showing SQ42 because it isn't close to release. It's unfinished. Their logic is that it's a waste of effort to constantly show WIP from a single player story driven game. This is not really like CDPR and Cyberpunk on console.
To put it very simply, it's what a lot of people predicted when the first roadmap for SQ42 came out, as well as the vertical slice in 2017-18. It was going to be delayed. Big game, lots of moving parts. CIG is a big studio, but not THAT big for what they are attempting. They have shown parts of SQ42 this year, and it's clear it is not anywhere near completion.
Having already taken that into consideration, I think CIG make a good decision here. From the point of vi...
Oh come on. The whole talking point was experiences that could only be achieved on a next gen console.
Nothing to imagine. Game is getting there. Features are getting done, player numbers are going up. This is only going to continue (just watch).
The only caveat is that it's really slow, but I don't see anyone else competing with them in this space.
I played the most recent free fly. It's still a mess in many ways. Barely any mission/progression structure, UI issues, ridiculously wonky NPC AI, bugs etc. Still an amazing experience somehow, whi...
It's a bit misleading. That number comes from some very specific stuff (FP32 performance or something).
TFLOP comparisons just became very pointless when comparing across generations like this. it's not 3 times more powerful than X Series X (12 TFLOPS) at game performance. The 3070 has 20 TFLOPs, but is still about as powerful as 2080ti (14.5 TFLOPs)
The Ampere TFLOP is something like 33% less powerful than a turing TFLOP in terms of performance i...
Very bad comparison. One of them is a finished game that offers fantastic value. The other is a project that's seen tons of delays, still 8 years in and not in the best place, and functions off of crowdfunded money.
There's no question at this point.
The PS5's SSD + custom hardware is clearly very very powerful. That will bring certain advantages over the XSX. That's not to say the XSX doesn't have very fast SSD and custom hardware too. It does, and it's still a massive leap over current gen.
I'm sure the XSX will also permit for advantages in other areas.
This was the worst part about it.
No substance here. Compared to the PS show it was just... sad.
That said, not sure what they can do about it. Big games take time. Their studio acquisitions are going to take a long time to come to fruition.
That's a really weird thing to say.
1) They've had missiles in the game for ages. Since the beginning. This is a new feature to add an 'operator mode' for missiles, as well as overhauls how they fly and track the target. ie they have fuel, difference stages of flight etc.
2) Even if they didn't have missiles until now, the statement 'they needed x amount of funding to have this feature' still doesn't make sense... That sat...
