Well unless rendering techniques changes in the near future (it wont) we will see a big downgrade in visuals on Xbox One version of games to hit 1080p. Let me try put it in easier terms;

Hmm.

you got one 16 cl glass which you first have to fill half way up with resolution (1080p) which gives you 8 cl left to fill with graphical detail (colours essentially). On the PS4 which have no restrictions what so ever in that department you ...

I can, it's called 32mb eSRAM

I can't believe how this will blow up yet we haven't even seen ANY XBO footage, that might be an unmitigated disaster for all we know.

Ha what? Multiplayer only games have been around for ages, BF2 being one of the best out there.

I'm not really sure these games need a campaign. Look at the first 4 battlefields (1942, Vietnam, 2 and 2142). They were all great games and lacked any kind of single player campaign, it supported offline play with bots - just as great anyway. I honestly hope for more multiplayer only games and less multiplayer in actual single player focused games - except for RPGs, MORE COOP PLEASE, LOOKING AT YOU BETHESDA!

Maybe none of you understand how displaying pixels on a screen works. See the chart I posted above for FB sizes using deferred rendering. If the Xbox One wants to push 1080p it have to sacrifice in other areas, it's as simple as that. Whether the 360 with 10mb eDRAM could do 720p or not is really irrelevant.

Here's a good chart showing the BPP for the most common rendering technique in modern engines (deferred rendering) without anti-aliasing.

A 1080p framebuffer using forward rendering and no AA at 32 bits per pixel would be ~24mb big, using deferred rendering which is far more likely would put it at the total of 2073600 pixels so at differing BPP(Bytes per pixel) we would get:

16 BPP: 31.64mb
20 BPP: 39.55mb
24 BPP: 47.46mb
28 BPP: ...

It's so stupid really, the spinning made by MS is insane.

4245d ago 15 agree1 disagreeView comment

All preconceptions about the cloud being able to boost game performance is something you should forget now, neither console will do this since it's not technically feasible.

What people don't seem to understand is that 1080p is not hard, we got smartphones with that resolution; it's about how much resources you want to put on assets in your game and balancing that against pixel output. Just because this is a new generation doesn't automatically mean all games ...

PS4 doesn't need upscaling, it can actually push 1080p so... yea

4246d ago 2 agree1 disagreeView comment

The GPUs on both consoles is the exact same architecture with the exact same upscaler -_-

4246d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Upscalers are part of the GPU, all BS around this was just stupid and uninformed. The sighs being drawn by Yoshida could probably empty a lake.. -_-

Hmm I would never categorise generations with how many pixels they can push. Wii U and Xbox One is next generation systems.. They're just underpowered such, MS really messed it all up (for gamers) completely shifting focus from games to entertainment.

This rather proves it's not as much about GPU prowess and more about that terribly sized ESRAM. 32mb is too small for deferred rendering in any higher resolutions (Cause Xbox One really should be able to play crappy COD just fine if it weren't for the bottleneck ESRAM)

There's a difference making outrageous claims without any second source backup and the kinds of leaking CBOAT and the gang makes, they never leak anything without multiple confirmation. The "leak" RTU had we've only ever heard from him.

I'm baffled at how bad the video capturing done by DF is, neither version is done justice.

You have no clue what you're talking about. Forza uses fking pre-baked lighting... In 2013, wth. Technically Forza just looks terrible, it's just you that have no clue what to look for. I never hear anyone of you mentioning the terrible aliasing in Forza for instance, anyone can see that. You probably don't even know what it is though but that also makes you inept to even make the comparison fairly.

DC is far more impressive from a technical standpoint with dynamic lighting, an actual AA solution (Forza model edges looks like a saw, them jaggies yuck) weather and so on. Forza lacks all this just to hit 1080p. There's nothing impressive with Forza.

The article brought something interesting up about the COD resolution; speculating why there haven't been any clear up on the situation to later answer his own question. COD being the Xbox Ones most pre-ordered game it would be quite devastating if it were to come out that the Xbox One version was inferior; these people buy a console for COD, namely something familiar - the Xbox. I think it's pretty set now that the COD Ghost Xbox One version isn't running at 1080p unlike the PS4 ...

"-Dedicated Servers for all MP games via the Cloud"

What the hell do you think the cloud even is? It's just dedicated servers... This just proves what a fking PR dribble "The Cloud" is. This list annoys me not only because it's so uneducated (cloud improvements, lol) but because many of the services will work better on PS4 lol, TV, FILM and MUSIC respectively, seeing how Sony is a huge conglomerate which owns some of the biggest entertainment corpo...
